    Water arrestor for sink

It's a mixer tap with just a handle type thing. Sorry not too clued up with plumbing! Is there nothing I can use to just fit between the 15mm outlet and the braided hose that then goes to the tap? Yes I agree, probably worth investing further into where the noise is but it does seem like it's...

    Water arrestor for sink

Hi all For some reason I'm getting a thud when turning the upstairs taps on or off (cold). Thinking of fitting an arrestor, there are braided hoses that connect to the copper pipes that stick out the wall, that then connect to the tap. I have seen you can get 3/4 bsp arrestors for washing...

    Does autodoc give good service?

I've ordered many parts from autodoc over the years, great selection of parts and really good prices. Delivery has always been a bit slow but acceptable considering they come from Germany, around a week and a half. But my most recent order post brexit was almost 3 weeks due to border delays...

    Bathroom extractor fan confusion

An update on this for whoever may be looking in the future in a similar position as me. I contacted the house builder and they sent an electrician out to install an isolation switch, I think it was just missed as the wiring was already there behind the plasterboard ready for the switch!

    Shed window replacement ideas

Hi all My shed has styrene windows with a drip edge all as one piece. The wind we has ripped one of them clean off. I want to replace it with a piece of perspex but I need a trip edge / window sill. Anyone have and idea where I can get one from or use instead? I've included 2 picture, one of...

    Bathroom extractor fan confusion

As Bargain Bucket suggested, I am just going to fit a fan with a motion sensor and timer to save the trouble. But an isolator switch is definitely not required? The fan already has its own independent switch next to the light swtich.

    Bathroom extractor fan confusion

That did cross my mind, but I would still prefer to install an isolation switch to be extra safe and make it consistent with the other bathroom / utility room extractor fans.

    Bathroom extractor fan confusion

Hi all, My house is only 4 years old but I want to replace the existing en suite extractor fan. Currently it is a simple on off fan controlled by its own switch. However it does not have an isolation switch above the door like the main bathroom does (no idea why). I want to replace it with a...

Worcester 28i Junior fast flashing red light

Yes I did... The board was only £27 so thought it was worth a go after all the normal average user troubleshooting steps failed. I have found the testing flow diagrams online for the boiler and if the board isn't bad it is pointing to either the pressure switch or the fan. Will do more poking...

Worcester 28i Junior fast flashing red light

Hi all, The boiler has no blue light and the red light is flashing fast. I was quite sure it was the PCB board as it was replace 7 years ago and i've read they are quite common to go and the flashing light is what they do. I ordered a refurbished one on ebay but it is still doing the same...

    Thanks for the info!

    New shed felt ripple

Nice one thank you. So to clarify you did apply adhesive on the entire roof? As most guides I've seen just say to use adhesive on the overlaps. Although I think applying adhesive on the entire roof will 100% remove any ripples / creases in the felt. My worry about doing that though is if I ever...

    New shed felt ripple

I installed it when it was around 25 degrees and sunny. What felt did you use?

    New shed felt ripple

Hi all I built a new shed the other week, 6x8 with an apex roof. I used the supplied felt and clout nails and followed instructions to a T. Even used a ruler to ensure all the nails are exactly 150mm apart etc. When I put the felt on it was perfectly flat on the roof, no bubbles, no ripples...

    Patio doors leaking through frame

Hi all, So during heavy wind and rain my patio doors are leaking. But not through the door seals but rather through the frame. Please see pic. The house is only 3 years old so I hope it's covered under warranty but incase it isn't, can anyone think why it's leaking here? Thanks!

    Dual zone central heating issue

Ahh yeah I just checked the policy booklet and it does have that sentence in. But the minimum claim value is £1,650! I guess it's good to keep in mind though in case the boiler packs up completely or something and needs replacing. That would be handy!

    Dual zone central heating issue

I think the 10 year warranty is only structural stuff. Things like the boiler are just covered with the usual manufacturer warranty. The ESI valve that failed is covered for 3 years I think looking on their website, but a replacement was so cheap it's not worth the hassle submitting a warranty...

Yeah valve has gone, ordered a new one, nice cheap fix. Thanks for the advice!

    Dual zone central heating issue

That make sense actually, the last time it worked, the heating came on lukewarm then nothing, perhaps the valve failed to open fully now not at all? I wonder if I could test that by swapping the wiring between the zone 1 and zone 2 valves, turn zone 1 on and see if it will put the heating on...

    Dual zone central heating issue

Hi all, I have a 2 year old Redrow house with a 2 zone central heating system. Ideal boiler with ESI programmer / thermostats. For some reason the zone 1 heating has stopped working. When I turn it on the boiler is not getting a demand signal. Zone 2 works fine and so does the hot water. I...
