Concrete calculations- base for block built structure

Hi all, I’m building a out building/posh shed out of concrete blocks. It will be about 4m x 3m and about 2.4m high at the front. I thought I’d get ready mix concrete delivered, but I’ve got no through way to barrow it into the back garden and ground pumping is too expensive so I’ll need to...

Pump water from under floor... where to (long term)

Thanks for the reply’s. I don’t have insurance unfortunately so it’s a DIY job I think. I’ve got united utilities coming out to see if it’s leaking from any of there pipes. Other than that I think it’s water table water... if it is I think it will just have to stay wet!! I’ve been pumping...

Pump water from under floor... where to (long term)

Hi ken, No... nothing’s been tested. What does testing do? Yes... it’s always been flooded. The smellier water I’m thinking was due to a blocked drain at the back. House was built late 1930’s I think. No, I’ve not asked for help from environmental health, I didn’t know I could. And no, it’s...

Pump water from under floor... where to (long term)

Hi all, sorry if this is in the wrong bit. I’m pumping out some water from under the floor. It’s always down there but a recent blocked drain made it stink . Currently the hose from the pump is coming out through the hallway then out the front door and into a drain. The pump has an auto...

    Double extension- where to start?

Just had a drawings quote... Seems steep. £2000 before a spade hits the ground. Design fee £1600. £300 initial fee to cover full measured survey and production of sketch proposals, £400 detailed planning drawings and submission, £900 detailed building regulations drawings/tender and...

    Double extension- where to start?

That sounds ideal - I'm getting builders saying they can't quote without drawings. It's a bit annoying they don't want to give a ball park as I might do a single lean to at the back as well as a double at the side but don't wanna get drawings for both if it doesn't work out worth it...

    Double extension- where to start?

I'm in more of a rush so it's going to be done in less than a year. I was hoping within 3 month!!! But looks like I'll have to be a bit more patient. I can do some of the work I've built rooms, done some wiring and plumbing but the main brick or block, floors roof etc is well out of my remit

    Double extension- where to start?

Thanks for the replys so far. I have called a builder for a quote, he said he might know someone to do the drawings. Does it take 8 weeks for planning permission? Other houses on the street have the same side double extension. So I don't need an architect I need a chartered surveyor...
