    Wondering if it's common to get some cracking in plaster work above rsj. Plaster is new above rsj in the room.

    Rsj not pushed up tight

    Hi I've had a knock through done. Problem is I don't think it's been pushed up tight enough an upstairs seems to be a few cracks appearing meaning wall may have settled down a bit. Wondering is it possible to take out an push it up tighter to joists. It's been on steel for a month. See also...

    100mm bearing ok ?

    Hi wondering if a 100mm bearing is ok for steel to sit on . Builder is looking at putting 8x4 rsj straight into internal wall which would only have 100mm bearing then. Span is 3m the rsj will be under floor joists an there is a wall above and in loft there is block that roof timber sits on.

    RSJ support. Cracking.

    Hi I've done knock through to kitchen diner . I got a building regs fella to go through job with me . He came up with idea of using a 178x102 vertical post as he said a windpost. This is then bolted to a 203x102 which runs 3m and is under the floor joists which hold up wall in bedroom an in loft...
