    8mm gas pipe

So after opening my eyes o_O I realised I was wrong, the pipe going round is 15mm the clips have snapped so it's hanging down, I've read it's not ment to touch the wall? Anyway the 8mm pipe still comes from the fire along the wall inside through the back wall and along the outside wall for about...

    Heat resistant plasterboard?

Thanks for your replies. Ken, I'm not sure of the render colour I don't think it was dark but the pointing isn't great on the chimney. The fire has a flue liner, I was just worried about any heat from the front of the fire

    8mm gas pipe

‍♂️ God don't I dread to think! At least I know its not right and will have to get it looked at. Apparently it was installed by a qualified gas safe registered engineer employed by the shop that the fire was bought from and installed by, go figure?!

    8mm gas pipe

I think it is a lot cheaper probably why its been used but looks flimsy as anything and it goes down the side from the main external gas pipe through the garage out to the back wall, along the back wall, through the wall into the room, along the wall to the chimney, through that wall to the fire...

    8mm gas pipe

I will try and post some photos today. Is it the size of the pipe that's the issue? Has he used 8mm all the way around for the pressure? So I take it this needs sorting out?

    8mm gas pipe

Hi guys, The property I am in has an 8mm gas pipe running externally round the house through the back wall, straight through the side of the chimney to a gas fire. My question Is this safe/correct to run 8mm externally Should it be covered or run in a bigger pipe to protect it? Just seems a bit...

Thanks Stem, Is this via the clock on the meter? Ours is half an hour behind, so if the off peak is say 1am till 8am. Will ours be coming on at 1.30am and going off at 8.30am therefore running 30mins at peak rate?

Better to have a bit of knowledge before getting an electrician round though. Ive read alot of posts on here, where it seems the electrician didnt really have a clue what he was doing. I had a british gas guy out the other day to check our meter. Something is eating more electricity than it...

I didnt think you were having ago, I got what you ment when you wrote it, people say you must follow the manufacturers instructions with wiring advice etc but the main stipulation about a qualified electrician doing the work, is ignored a lot of the time. Didnt want anyone thinking I was asking...

Thanks everyone for all your comments, all valid points and good ideas. John D the house doesnt have a gas supply and it cant be installed, i guess at the time of build storage heaters were the only valid option? Its a good idea having an oil filled rad, one that I was going to go with however...

Oh I forgot to add, The heaters at the moment have zero control. On the lowest output setting the bedroom heater blasts out the heat its so hot we have to open the window. If I lower the input to 2-3 it runs out and is freezing when we goto bed. The front room is on 6 input constantly but bearly...

Hi Stem, Thanks for your reply, Im not sure of the setup, there are 2 seperate fuse boards it says off peak CU and 24 hour CU, all the heaters are on the off peak CU and plugs etc on the 24 hour. If the connection was put into the original spur the heaters are connected to, wouldnt this mean...

Hi everyone, I have old storage heaters in my house that are all properly connected to off peak E7 supply via there own fuse box. As the heaters are old, arnt cost effective and have little control, i was looking into changing over to the dimplex quantum range. I have noticed the quantum range...
