The yellow wire goes to the ceiling rose(connected to one side of the lamp) and is only live when the pull switch is operated. You can leave the yellow off and the fan will just run continuosly.

Bl***y hell I only partially drained the system as well.

Would I not have the red overheat light on? To rest it it says on the back of the removable front cover that the thermostat knob is to be turned to the 0 position,wait 5 seconds the turn knob to required to required setting.Problem is the `overheat light` is not on.
