RCD Tripping – Fault Traced to One Socket, Still Trips with Replacement

Please find attached an image of the fuse box for reference. The cables connected to the socket are 2.5mm in size. I have not had any electrical work carried out recently; the only activity was some painting and decorating, which took place approximately a year and a half ago. The circuit...

RCD Tripping – Fault Traced to One Socket, Still Trips with Replacement

I believe it may be a radial circuit protected by a 32-amp RCD. I say this because the electrics were rewired in 2015, which is when the extension was built. The extension appears to be using the same circuit as well.

RCD Tripping – Fault Traced to One Socket, Still Trips with Replacement

I'm having an issue with an RCD that keeps tripping as soon as I attempt to turn it back on. I've already unplugged all appliances from the affected circuit, but the RCD still trips immediately. To isolate the fault, I disconnected each socket on the circuit one by one and managed to trace the...

Advice on installing panel slats against a wall that has a gradient (rear extension wall with a pitched ceiling)

I understand that in order to draw the angle on the slat widths and to cut, I would need to draw a horizontal line on the wall, starting at the spot with the lowest gradient. From there, I could figure out the vertical length and use a straight-edge saw on the actual slats themselves. *The...

Advice on installing panel slats against a wall that has a gradient (rear extension wall with a pitched ceiling)

I was also thinking of using a protector to work out the angle. which would remain consistent across the 60cm widths of the panels.

Advice on installing panel slats against a wall that has a gradient (rear extension wall with a pitched ceiling)

Advice on installing panel slats against a wall that has a gradient (rear extension wall with a pitched ceiling) Hello all, I'm after some advice on how to measure and cut the slat panels for a wall that has a gradient ceiling that is pitched. So the height of one end of the wall is around...

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

The house was extensively refurbished in 2015 (before we bought it) its possible that the hearthstone would have been removed.

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

The source of the water was coming from the side of the wall, where you can see the rotten part of the joists. This was caused by the groundworks outside being higher than the level of the external wall DPC. I excavated the ground to around 70cm deep, poured in some concrete to below 30cm of...

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

I dug out a picture (excuse the pun), of when the joists were repaired near the chimney, this was at a point when there was still wallpaper on the walls. However, looking at the image closely, I do not see any tide marks.

Thats a massive job, could I not use something like Dryrod Damp Proofing Rods DPC Kit https://www.amazon.co.uk/Dryrod-Damp-Proofing-Rods-DPC/dp/B07YMZBVC Drill and insert these rods at the base of the breast (where the flooring meets not below the subfloor), then not having to rip out the...

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

Good shout, about looking at other side, never noticed that area before up until now. Getting to the floorboards is going to be a pity, due to the laminate flooring, with the subfloor running perpendicular too... We had these out a couple of months ago, and I did not notice any water at the...

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

So there was no rain overnight, and perhaps a light drizzle in the early hours. I was just looking at the chimney breast, and it looks noticeably worse than it did yesterday and on Monday (when I took the original pictures). I've booked in a plasterer to hack back to brick and then build up...

When we removed the floorboard, we removed any rubbish that was laying in the foundations, regarding the air brick I can not see any rubbish in there.

    Damp showing in Chimney breast

I thought I had replied, but for some reason, the page didn't save. The floor isn't solid, it has a subfloor, which has been recently lifted due to a couple of rotten joists, This was due to the DPC being penetrated as the ground works were higher, but that's now been resolved. The property is...
