Oh blimey, I did wonder about damp. It’s been one thing after another with this builder. See my other thread ref their brickwork. I’m at my wits end. Thank you for confirming my fears, going to have to approach them tomorrow about it..

I will check. The door that was there previously was lower /level with the floor, all other doors are level with the floor

We are nearing completion of an extension on a 1954 house. Builder has today screeded floor, I’m concerned that he’s fitted the external door to high, meaning quite a high step over, any advice? Any industry standards or building regulations about this? Thank you.

I guess we learn by experience.. agree ref legal stuff, we’ve offered to pay for work they’ve completed. Being cold is the worse.. especially when you have medical issues and children, just being warm makes all the difference

Yep. We did our homework. We thought. Member of the FMB, trading standards approved scheme member, recommended by a neighbour etc etc etc we’ve raised issues all the way through, we have building control involved as things have not met standards and remedial work required.. on it goes...

Well, that is the big question, not a lot left to pay, trading standards involved because there are a lot of other issues, they say we have to show willing and pay monies owed otherwise we are in breach of contract, and that it will be a legal claw back. Seems as the consumer we aren’t really...

We have raised it and were told they would weather in.. which is why I raised this thread.. this project was anticipated to take 4 months, 8 months later still not finished…

Thank you for taking the time to post. Totally totally agree with you on all points. I’m heartbroken and totally stressed out by all of this, they are not accepting responsibility for any of the issues we are raising. Looking likely it will go down a legal route.

Thank you for sharing your opinion, that’s how I feel too.. all along they’ve fobbed me off..it’s on a list of issues and is being ignored.. we will see what happens..

Hi, ah ok ref the pallets, will the bricks weather too be the same or is it something I should raise. I haven’t called those snagging companies, they only do new build, I’ve found a RICS surveyor who assesses extensions etc

No idea! We requested them all to match the original house, this is what we’ve ended up with….

Our roof valley is quite steep and water overshoots the guttering, builder says it’s ok, I’m worried about damp issues, what can be done to remedy?! Will post pics in daylight
