    CO death from faulty boiler...

Story here http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/oxfordshire/5202976.stm The CPS has decided not to prosecute due to lack of evidence! Doesn't exactly send out the right message for dodgy gas work does it?

DIY Gas Work IS NOT Illegal

Scenario 1 would involve social services due to the child wearing a shellsuit

cr smith or thistle windows which is best?

Used CR Smith last year. They had a 'special offer' at the time which made their prices well below that of the smaller outfits. Nice enough rep (didn't slate other firms!). Good windows and their fitters did the job nicely too...

    RAVENSHEAT ON FIRE!!!!

And I hope none of you are silly enough to do any DIY oil or coolant changes and have the sense to leave that sort of thing to a car maintenance engineer :) (Although finding an honest one of those is probably going to be more difficult :()

    Drill power for core drilling

I'm not looking to argue with you but just because a tool is used for something that the manual doesn't specifically state, it doesn't make it necessarily dangerous. The drill I'm talking about has a clutch which is quite happy to slip. Would be nice to know all the wasted money in the NHS...

    Drill power for core drilling

Please explain how the tool I mentioned is dangerous. Not quite up to the task if used repeatedly everyday but you can get by with it safely, unless I've missed something.

    Part P inspection fees.

Please do. I have a complete rewire of a two bed house coming up shortly and it would be very handy if you can get your council to drop their fees.

    Drill power for core drilling

It has a clutch and you can work around the gearing but I'm sure you're right... I shall now run along and fill up the holes I have cored out with that drill and buy one of your nice supadupa ones for the 3 or 4 holes I drill in a year

    Drill power for core drilling

I've had one of these for about 3 years now and have given it plenty of abuse http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/7105159.htm It's very light and has a clutch. A little on the slow side coring 127mm holes but not an issue if you're only doing holes that size once in a while.

    Part P inspection fees.

The inspection fee applies to all inspections not just part p stuff. For example if you change your windows yourself you have to give building notice and pay for an inspection. If you make any other alterations that requires building notice you have to pay for an inspection. The thing BC...

    Part P inspection fees.

I don't think you're being fobbed off Most councils charge a fee for a building notice and a fee for inspection. Yours charging appx £200 for a notice and inspection doesn't sound too unreasonable. I think you have got the part in the ODPM circular slightly wrong. BC are only allowed to only...

    Condesing Boiler Assesment

Thanks for the info so far. With a diverter kit how far does the flue terminal has to be from the upstairs window (bearing in mind someone else owns the upstairs flat)? Would it be possible to have a condensing boiler fitted in the understairs cupboard and have the flue out the wall at a...

    Condesing Boiler Assesment

(updated layout) The distance between the back door and the shared path is only 1.5 meters. In the assessment doc I read the minimum terminal distance from property boundary is 2.5 meters. There's also a garden shed within 2.5 meters of the kitchen's back wall. I need to measure the...

    Condesing Boiler Assesment

Hi We have just bought a ground floor flat which needs a complete central heating installed. We are having the gas supply installed by Fulcrum in a few weeks and have been trying to sort out bathroom and kitchen layouts. We’ve also been thinking about where we’d want the boiler...
