What's happened to this plaster underneath wallpaper?

Could well be….do you know of what we can do with it in terms of painting over it or is best to try remove whatever it is?

What's happened to this plaster underneath wallpaper?

Thanks for the reply. No stains or everything evidence of smoking at all, pretty sure it’s been a smoke free house. The other half who did most of this did say it looks like maybe another lay of red paint underneath this…..will have to investigate that further tomorrow…… Either way then it’s not...

What's happened to this plaster underneath wallpaper?

I could try that, just don't want to damage the plaster! It could be though.... Wall's hollow sounding in places, solid in others....so I guess it's timber behind with dot and dab plasterboard? (Sorry I'm no expert!)

What's happened to this plaster underneath wallpaper?

So we've removed the wallpaper on one wall that the previous owners had on. Wallpaper came off quite easily but underneath the paper on the plaster (or plasterboard but presume it's plaster) there a lots of tiny little cracks all over the wall. Can barely get your fingernail in them if at all in...

Filling loop issue; lots of noise then stops filling!

Any ideas on this? :/ Convinced this is somehow connected to me seemingly chasing air round the system, one day a radiator works fine then the next it can be stone cold. Have to close the return lock shield and draw watery air out the bleed to kind of kick start it in to life. Rarely get air on...

Filling loop issue; lots of noise then stops filling!

Got a weird issue with the filling loop on my system. Seems to randomly fill fine and other times not, like it’s pushing against something (air?) and then stops filling, makes a load of noise as well. Attached a video to give a better idea! Is this an air issue? The pipe from the loop appears to...

    Magnaclean install space issue…options?

Cheers all, yes I think all in all I'd rather stick with the Pro2 if I possibly can. Yup I was thinking that might be the only way. Hopefully can find a plumber to do it, guess it's fairly straightforward for someone competant! Well I've had a plumber out recently to try and sort out some...

    Magnaclean install space issue…options?

Hi all, Looking to install a Magnaclean Pro 2 filter on my system, seems like a good idea with 10mm Microbore pipes! Anyway before I pull the trigger I’m struggling to see where I could install it, I think I’ve ruled myself out DIY’ing this job now but would a plumber be able to fit it in the...

Some radiators not really getting hot

I will try that tomorrow, cheers. Have either of you got a proper guide for balancing, I've seen different methods given online....

Some radiators not really getting hot

Was a mix of Siemens ones and Terrier. To be fair no I don’t think it was really working that well before either but I’ve only moved in fairly recently.

Some radiators not really getting hot

Problem seems to be that the upstairs and downstairs hallway radiators get really hot quick while the others seem to stay either lukewarm or barely warm at all. Bled all the radiators but I’m suspecting a balancing issue. House is 2008 built so not old. I don’t appear to have regular lock...

Wiring centre thermostat help! (Drayton Wiser)

Ok, sorry to be very basic but I’m only just learning about this stuff, is kinda interesting though! So at the moment I’ve got heating and hot water working on the Drayton, the only thing I’m missing is the bedroom zone heating. So if I’m reading your post correctly, is one of the brown wires...

Wiring centre thermostat help! (Drayton Wiser)

Looking behind the programmer base plate again today, I just wanted to confirm a few things for myself. Is this 3 wires going into one (for N + L) for the three valves or heating zones? Also what would be terminated in this Wago connector? Seems like it comes from a separate piece of wiring...

Wiring centre thermostat help! (Drayton Wiser)

Urgh, I was hoping this would be straightforward(ish) DIY job, seems like I'll have to get someone if it's going to be complicated :( Thanks for your help though

Wiring centre thermostat help! (Drayton Wiser)

Yes there is, a fused switch which turns the controller and boiler on and off. It's next to the boiler in the utility room. Ok live and switched live, I was just reading the L/N off the back plate markings!

Wiring centre thermostat help! (Drayton Wiser)

So I ended up with the Drayton Wiser 3 channel system, looking to remove both the existing downstairs thermostat and bedroom thermostat and just have the Wiser ones in their place. Plan will be to have the main bedroom heating controlled by the Wiser Thermostat and then TRV's everywhere else...

Great cheers chaps, hopefully it'll be straightforward to locate the right wires!

    Drayton Wiser 2 channel question

Ok, it'll be On/Off I believe as it's a Worcester Bosch Ri so don't think it supports OpenTherm? I would be happy to bypass the bedroom zone and just have a single zone, don't think I'd be missing out on much doing it this way. Question is, is it simple to do that? I was hoping to install this...

    Drayton Wiser 2 channel question

Hi, So I've just purchased a Drayton Wiser 2 channel system with a couple of TRV's, possibly a bit prematurely....but I'm not really sure about this stuff to be honest! I have a thermostat in the downstairs hallway and one in the main bedroom which just controls that bedroom temperature. Also...
