Hotpoint Oven Door Inner Glass Replacement - Which way round?

Is this on your actual oven, i.e. the original glass? I ask this because I took the radical and revolutionary step of going into Currys yesterday and checking all the Hotpoint built in ovens of similar make, and every one had the black film side facing away from the seal, such that the bare...

Hotpoint Oven Door Inner Glass Replacement - Which way round?

My Hotpoint cooker door inner glass shattered the other day and I have bought a spare to replace. The glass is the inner sheet which makes contact with the oven door seal. The glass has a black border strip around the edge about 3 inches wide, forming a clear window in the centre with said black...

Immersion heater tripping out electric - element or stat?

Hi, hopefully a quick one. My immersion heater is tripping the rcd, is this more likely to be the element or the stat? Prior to the this tank heated up normally, i.e. didn't have any problems with the tank not heating up. I live in a fairly hard water area. Element is about 10 years old.

Neutral pin on plug melted - what happened?

I'm no trician but that to me sounds a bit dodgy, seeing as its part of the ring main the stranded wire could in theory take up to 30A. And how good would a stranded wire soldered to a solid wire be jointwise? Have you seen the size of immersion heater cable? And thats only supposed to take up...

Neutral pin on plug melted - what happened?

Thanks for that, the strange thing is though this plug has virtually never been unplugged so its not as though its become worn or anything. Now that I think about it I've been noticeing a funny "uriniey" smell when I get sat in my computer chair for the last 4 or 5 days. Ruling out myself as the...

Neutral pin on plug melted - what happened?

In my computer room I have the pc, monitor, tv and various other bits and peices plugged into a 4 gang extension lead, which is plugged into a single wall socket placed behind the desk, under the monitor. The last few days I've heard a few breif pops and ticks which I thought were coming from...

Old Concord boiler - Possible faulty gas valve, price?

Really? I was just thinking maybe I should bite the bullet and get it replaced since it's so old. If I can get another 10 years out of it though after repairing the valve then I'll be happy. I checked with priceright heating customer services and they say parts for this boiler are still...

Old Concord boiler - Possible faulty gas valve, price?

I have an ancient Concord WRS 240 boiler which has decided to stop providing me with hot water/heat. I have proved the mains supply to the back of the thermostat control box, and also proved the 240 output from that to the gas valve. The pilot light is on ok. From this I'm thinking the gas valve...
