This is it! This worked. As my username suggests I’m not the brightest when it comes to this. A million thank yous. EFLs explanation confused me a little. I’ve electric taped off the wires that don’t connect anywhere anymore but it’s probably best to put a small connector block on each(?)...

Have tried the yellow wire instead of the black with red sleeve. Light seems to turn on and off at the pull cord but still nothing to the receiver, also the fan didn’t turn on and off once I did that. Receiver will go in a hollow space in the ceiling. Will be a nuisance but I can make it work.

Many thanks for the diagram EFL. I’ve tried it this way and it doesn’t seem to work, no power to the receiver or anything, no sign of life. I’ve also tried with the other red for Live in. Also not sure what I did wrong or if it’s related but the under-cabinet hardwired LED lights in the kitchen...

So if there’s no existing neutral then the receiver can’t be installed in my scenario? Receiver has Live in/Neutral In, Live out/Neutral Out.

Thank you all. Here are clearer photos of the original pendant and of the pull switch. Not sure why there’s a red sleeve on neutral on the pull cord. I believe there was three cables, two black one blue going into one connector. Was quite a struggle fitting them in. No new pictures sorry...
