Mountfield HP470 power varying after servicing

Ha, yeah I've definitely had my money's worth out of it!! No the carb hasn't been replaced. End of the dip pipe was clean. The rubber elbow does seem a bit slack, I'll maybe try it with a tie wrap securing it on each end

Mountfield HP470 power varying after servicing

Thanks mate, yep pretty sure I've got the gasket & diaphragm on right. (Thin bit on the tank side). There is a rubber pipe elbow connecting through carb to the mower, I'll have a look at that. The other thing I wasn't sure about was the governor springs...should those move much ? Mine seem...

Mountfield HP470 power varying after servicing

I've just serviced my Mountfield HP470 mower. I've replaced the blade, oil change, new air filter, new spark plug, new fuel primer, cleaned the carburetor (used brake cleaner spray), new diaphragm & gasket...but it's not running right. To be honest, it's pretty similar to how it was before...

    Petrol mower power varying

Hi all, Just taken my old petrol mower out the shed for the new year! It's a Mountfield HP470. It starts fine, I just put in fresh fuel, but when it's running through motor seems to vary speed to the point of almost cutting out. Anyone know what would cause that? I left it running for about...

    Squeaky chipboard flooring unsupported

Hi all, Wondering if this is normal? See attached photo. I have quite a lot of squeaky floor boards in my house that seems to be where there's an unsupported join in the boards. You'll see from the photo that the boards are nailed to the joist, but the join isnt on the joists, it's about 100mm...

Mixer tap neither fully hot or fully cold?

Hi all, I moved into a house with 2 bath/showers, all works fine except when you adjust the temperature the water never runs completely cold or completely hot. Any idea why that might be? See attached photo. The tap on the right switches between bath, wall shower and overhead shower (missing...

Radiator tail to shut off - metric to imperial

Hi all, Can anyone recommend suggestions on what i can do here? I'm replacing an old radiator in my house with a new one. The old radiator shut off valve is an imperial size (1" external - photo attached), then the tail from my new radiator is metric (15mm tail - photo attached). I'm...

    Isolate & drain radiators?

Cheer Rob! So do you mean bung the pipe inside the feed cistern, or you're talking about doing it further down the system? Yes, I had a bit of a job last time to clear all the airlocks. I was finding bleed valves all over the place that I didn't know about!

    Isolate & drain radiators?

Hi mate, That's fantastic, thanks very much. I did notice that the F&E tank was pretty dirty inside, so i'll get it cleaned when i drain off. My radiator is first floor, so that's good to know that I don't necessarily need to empty out the lot. Most of the radiators in the house are solid...

    Isolate & drain radiators?

Hi all, I’ve moved into a new house that has an open vented heating system, I’m looking or a bit of help understanding the system so I can isolate and drain the radiators ahead of swapping out a very old one. There’s large cold-water tank in my loft, plus another small one beside it. Is the...

    Patchy newly sown grass

Hi all, I've recently put down new grass seed on an area that I had run the tiller over in my garden. I think Ive spread the seed a bit too sparingly as not that it's coming up it looks pretty sparse! Photo attached. Can I just add more seed as it is? or do I need for this stuff to be...

Cost of dry ridge system + repairs

Hi all, I'm being quoted about £2500 to install a dry ridge system on my pitched roof, approximately 15m long, reusing the original ridge tiles. The quote also includes some general repairs, a few broken tiles etc. Does that sounds reasonable? Cheers

    Sagging sarking boards

Hi all, What are these boards called that are sagging/falling off in the photo? Sarking boards? It's been pretty damp in my loft previously which has caused it, the house is 40 years old but I just moved in last year. The chipboard sheets have dried out all bent now, so I don't think I'd be...
