    Unblocking close coupled toilet

Slugbaby, can't drill through the tiles. I already tried and the heating engineer tried, think they need some sort of special tiler's drill bit.

    Unblocking close coupled toilet

Nige, it's only a month old. It was part of a Barcelona suite from B&Q. I thought close coupled loos were modern. I agree with you though, wish I had skipped it, those double traps are a right cow. Well, I ripped out the loo and the offending freshner cage was immediately visible. One good...

    Unblocking close coupled toilet

the wife and daughter have both tried getting their hand over the trap but no success. I'm fearing the worst now, my pan is attached to porcelain tiles with sticks like s**t. I can't see another way though of getting that plastic thing out without removing the toilet.

    junction box

    Lining paper in kitchens

Kitchen walls are down to old bare plaster which has lots of holes and dents in them. Don't want to reskim so was wondering if it's ok to line kitchen walls and then paint with a matt or soft sheen. Please advise if I'm going wrong.

    Replacing flashing

hi Moz, The flashing was a narrow strip of felt (about 3 inches wide). It connected the wall to the top of my porch which is just a basic slab of concrete above the front door.

    Replacing flashing

While scraping the front of my house the flashing above the concrete porch disintegrated. It seems to be part of the dpc so I'm guessing I better get round to replacing it before the damp weather closes in. I was wondering if there's a simple diy option to getting it fixed. Maybe a heavyduty...

Tung oil for external window frames

Hi, Is it ok to use tung oil for external window frames? Any advice on prep - I'm thinking of sanding down, resealing the edges and then oiling or staining. It sounds to good to be true that no other prep is involved! Many thanks, Tony

    masonary paint

Hi John, That sounds promising. Maybe the waterbased Dulux Weathershield sold in B&Q is not up to much. It was a little sampler pot I used and the whole lot went on very thinly. I think I'll nip over to the Dulux trade place. There seem to be many varieties of Weathershield on the market. My...

    masonary paint

Hi, About to repaint the outside of my house which hasn't been done for about twenty five years. This resulted in me having to strip the entire top layer off except for a few stubborn patches here and there. I tried some Dulux Weathershield (waterbased) bought from B&Q on a sample area and...

    Painting external border

Hello, Are painted borders going around the bottom of houses purely for decorative effect or do they serve another purpose? I'm curious because I'm painting the outside of my house and I was wondering if I should use a special damp proof paint for the border - especially the area below the...

    Painting new internal doors

I've just had some new internal doors fitted - they're from B&Q. They were painted white when I bought them but I'm not sure if this is intended to be an undercoat or a finish. Anyhow I'd like to freshen them up a bit with a satin or eggshell finish. Because they already have a layer of paint...
