    Redland mechanical ridge fixings

Are Redland dry ridge fixings available as individual components ? ( What I think I need may only be available within a DryVent kit. ) I have to fit this passive stack ridge vent into the current mortar ridge. The ridge vent instructions show that the joins on either side as...

This soakaway will need an overflow at the far end

Local Building Control classify this area as "sandy clay". Many houses in this location have been built ( in the 1930s ) with rainwater soakaways only, fed by porous pipes - although the topography and ground conditions may vary from house to house. In this case, with the extraordinary...

This soakaway will need an overflow at the far end

This is my - completely full - soakway test trench. Most of the pipework is already in place, but I haven't buried the crates yet. 2012 has been a rather demanding year for handling/removing rainwater from the roof. I have seen the water table in the back garden rise to the surface of the...

Toilet : close-coupling kit looks wrong

The result :- I fitted the kit shown in the original post. It does seem to work effectively - there is no leakage upon flushing. Thanks to all for your guidance.

Toilet : close-coupling kit looks wrong

It is not a bolt-through cistern. I think that the larger diameter ( and thinner ) seal may be the most promising avenue at this stage. . . . .back to PlumbCentre then . . . . .

Toilet : close-coupling kit looks wrong

It is a standard close-coupling kit from the local plumbers merchant == bog standard  The photo shows how the kit lines up with the bolts through the holes in the toilet ( just to show how it looks ). The rubber doughnut does not want to sit anywhere other than where it is in the...

EcoTech Plus 824 - No water flow from hot taps

Solved !! Many thanks to all contributors. The valve for the CH filling loop on the right-hand-side ( cold supply IN ) was open to the filling loop while its taphead indicated "Closed". i.e. taphead had slipped out of the correct position. I have tightened up the screws on the tapheads...

EcoTech Plus 824 - No water flow from hot taps

Thanks for these responses. (One of) the filling valves may indeed be the prime suspect. It corresponds with something seeming a bit odd when I refilled the CH. . . . . . At the start, of the CH refill, both tapheads on the filling loop showed closed. I turned the left one ON and the...

EcoTech Plus 824 - No water flow from hot taps

There is no water flowing when I turn on any of the hot taps. The boiler is on and the central heating seems to be working well. The loss of hot water has happened shortly after connecting a new 22mm cold supply pipe ( the old one was 15mm ). My first theory is that debris may have blocked...

What paint for a fibreglass portico ??

Thanks Zampa. I was suspecting that using gloss for g.r.p. yacht hulls was a bit excessive for this application.

What paint for a fibreglass portico ??

This is one of those glass-reinforced-plastic, psuedo-georgian porticos on the front the house belonging to an elderly relative. It's a bit shabby now, with small holes developing in various places. I have already filled the holes to keep the weather out, but need to paint the whole thing...
