    no no. one 500W halogen and 3 light fittings 100W each so 800W based my calculations on 1000W to alow for one or two extra lights in the future.

    I have read a few topics which have touched on this but wondering if anyone had a definate answer. I am runing SWa for 1KW of outside lights. Should I run 3 core (live, neutral and earth) or 2core and relying on armour for earth.

    System is TN-S. So I could use the armour right? Even if the armour has corroded slightly because it is an old run, and armour at garage end has been left exposed (for over 10 years).     Yes I am aware, I have already notified the LBC. I was going to install an earth rod because the supply to the garage has already been installed a few yaers back. It only has two cores, dont think the armour is good enough!? so maybe 6mm2 for the sockets and 2.5mm for the lights
