Bosch Classixx 1200 (WAE24364) blowing heating elements.

Hi, I have the above machine which has just blown its second element this year. The OE part lasted 3 years, the 1st pattern replacement lasted about 5 months and the second (pattern) has failed after 3 months. Is it just a case of coughing up £50 for a genuine Bosch element or is there some...

    Triton Dew shower problem.

Hello all, This shower has been fitted for about 3 years and until recently has been faultless. In the past few weeks it will start to run colder after a couple of minutes of operation. If you turn it off and then on again, it stays hot for another couple of minutes. The temperature control...

    Uncontrollable heating !

If the CH zone valve is jammed in the open position, it will be calling for heat from the boiler as the 'call for heat' signal comes from a microswitch activated by the valve's motion.

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

Quite a long way from the smoke - North Lincolnshire.

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

He hasn't suggested a new boiler. That's my call. This is our 5th winter in this house and this boiler has been nothing but trouble every single one of them. It's an old boiler (2003) which was badly fitted and commisioned and is now suffering for it. I'm simply not prepared to throw any...

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

That's exactly the problem. Looking at the parts diagram it's probably the seal that sits between the burner tray and the heat x.

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

It also needs a new combustion box door, burner, manifold seal and it kettles like crazy if you run it at 80 degrees. Beyond economical repair......

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

It was dry again this morning after being switched off all night, but was dripping again after about 2 mins of use so yes, it's probably condensate leaking from the burner tray/heat x joint. I'm not throwing any more money and time at a dying boiler so the plumber's coming later on to give it...

Potterton Promax 24HE leaking water, LHS of burner tray.

As per title, there's a slight drip of water from the LHS rear of the burner tray. Only spotted it after the boiler started showing symptoms of either a faulty sensing electrode or blocked condensate trap (5 ignition cycles then lockout). Unplugging the trap sensor cured it, but then I noticed...

Anyone else have any comments about them?

    Ideal logic

So, two years further down the line, what's the current opinion on the logic? Has it proved itself, disgraced itself horribly or is the jury still out?

    Ideal Standard Dual Flush

On the Conceala cistern, you turn the whole mechanism anticlockwise (as you look at it from the top) about 30 degrees, then it will pull out. Make sure you isolate the feed first!

    Potterton Promax 15HE cutting out

If it were the condensate trap, it would be lighting and then shutting down, so I don't think it's the trap sensor. If the fan's coming on then the safety cutouts would seem to be working OK. You can test them for completeness if you wish! As it's trying to ignite (going through 5 ignition...

    Potterton Promax 15HE cutting out

IME if it was a blocked condensate trap, the boiler would behave like there was a fault with the flame sensing electrode (i.e. fire up then shut down, repeat x 4, then lockout). The trap is designed to empty in one hit as this makes it less prone to freezing in the outlet pipe. Does it cut out...

    Banging pipes - blocked separator?

Hello all, Our CH has recently started making quite voilent banging noises from the boiler/pump/valve pipework. It only seems to do it when the system is getting up to full temperature but there is sometimes also a single big bang as soon as the CH valve closes. It's an open S plan with std...

No need to be a jerk about it <unthanked>

Potterton Promax 24HE keeps eating door seals

More like 'new boiler required'. ;) I refuse to lob £250+ at this unreliable heap of junk - it's been trouble from the day we moved into this house 3 years ago. I'd rather shell out a couple of grand for a new boiler and, more importantly, have it installed correctly (unlike this one)...

Potterton Promax 24HE keeps eating door seals

Hello, My Potterton Promax 24HE is going through combustion box door seals like they're going out of fashion! I've just had to replace them again having replaced them just after Christmas. I'm very careful to make sure that the bolts are torqued down properly - this was after I had to replace...
