    Overcoming RCD discrimination

Thanks john. Testing circuits with 2 rcds will be a nightmare for me, should have thought it though a little better. Will look at other option listed in this thread and as a last resort replace the RCBOs for MCBs in the new board. Will however install the other circuits 1st as originally...

    Overcoming RCD discrimination

Thank you for everyone's help, think I got myself a tad confused reading your posts while eating etc. but having read all the posts again I seem to be able to follow them better now. 2 rcds (or RCBOs) at the same rating is not the best. My understanding, pressing the test button on an RCD or...

    Overcoming RCD discrimination

Tried everything I could think of to find breakers for the old memshield DB. Think it was memshield 2. If I could have found at breaker to fit then it was always to be my preferred choice as it would have eliminated the Rcd in series problem. Could not find memsheild 63a, or find compatible...

    Overcoming RCD discrimination

Think as they are white and pretty thin they may just not show in pics but they are there. Yes, just to clarify, pressing the test button on the contactum RCBO tripped the hager RCD.

    Overcoming RCD discrimination

The main incoming feed to the Hager DB it is a whooping 25mm so it maxes out the terminals in the DB, the possibility of moving this 25mm armoured cable is practically nil too looking at how its been installed. Obviously the switch fuse idea would protect the new cable against overcurrent, but...

    Overcoming RCD discrimination

EFL - The Hager DB I took the supply from is split load with RCD protection on both sides. PRENTICE - The SWA is protected by the 63A MCB from a spare way in the Hager DB, which unfortunately is still protected by its RCD

    I think I made a big booboo!!

cannot remember where i saw it but there are some grids that are kind of egg box design that you can lay in gravel. These have the advantage also of keeping gravel level to. Other alternative I can think of is to lay a row of slabs under where the car wheels will drive.

    Consumer unit connections

why would the new cable installed be placed on the non rcd side of existing board. Is it due to tripping out the ring mains in house in event of fault? is this why it has been suggested to place on rcd side of CU in Stable. Also there is no steel work within the stable so no extre..(however...
