Have been asked at work to order 2 5foot twin light fittings for a non ventilated room that will be used to store various paints.
I understand that normal light fittings are not allowed owing to the risk of explosion.
Can anyone tell me what classification lighting I will need for this zone and if possible where I find the regulation regarding this.
Many thanks.

According to Brown Book it's BS EN60079 and BS EN 50014

Also 482

i would classify a paint store as an explosion risk if things like thinners and spray cans are there..

if it is then section 48 does not cover it.. you need explosion proof fittings and cabling etc.. and possibly more specialised things..

we just had to shell out nearly 10000 to have 23 lights and associated cabling fitted to a new spray booth.. but that's more of a specialised thing with spray vapour floating around..

instinsicly safe fittings - very expensive - use correct glanding on cable entries(usually supplied)
