    Vent Axia Svara fan

Well i bought it through Screwfix when I had a promotional voucher so it was slightly cheaper. But I've spoken to Vent Axia and they said it appears to be a sensor fault and just get a new one from them.

    Vent Axia Svara fan

So basically I've had this installed for a few months now. Surprisingly the sensors have worked well until now. Humidistat works fine but the light sensor doesn't appear to be working anymore. I've two LED spots in bathroom that are bright so i can't see how it can't detect them. Just checked it...

    Covering Pink to magnolia emulsion

I'd give it a coat of trade while emulsion followed by two coats of Magnolia. Johnstones CoverPlus would do the trick or Dulux trade paints.

    Paint still sticky

Plus if he used the new 2010 compliant paint it takes longer to dry than non 2010.

    Opinions on Dulux Diamond paints?

I've used this quite a lot recently on new builds as the customer didn't want the usual smells of solvent based paint. Overall it requires a little more time and effort than solvent based satinwood. I found that a Purdy brush is ideal for this and it leaves less brush marks. I used Jabot (dulux...

Options To Paint Rusted Coated Metal Vent Pipe ?

I'd go for that. Just make sure you do the prep right and the Hammerite will do the trick.

Np. I'll get my mate to sort it out since he's a sparky once he comes back from his hols. :)

Adding another light to a existing light

I have an outside light (pir controlled) that can be switched off from the inside. I want to add another PIR light to this existing circuit, as in a parallel. Will this be ok?

    2 coats or 3?

If you're using a good quality paint then 2 coats will do the job. Otherwise you may need 3. But if it looks solid then adding extra coats is just wasting time.

    Dulux trade voc compliant paints

I've always been a big fan of Dulux trade paints. They give the best coverage and best finish compared to other makes. I 'll admit I do use Johnstones for their emulsion but that's about it. This week I've been using the new 2010 dulux trade eggshell and I doesn't dry as quick, but it's still...

Inhibitor in a Vaillant Combi boiler

I know its a daft question as such but in my Vaillant manual it says not to add any inhibitors or cleaners. The boiler is at least over 15 years old (according to British Gas). Any reason why I shouldn't add any? Since we've owned the house the boiler has never had any in, but it has been...

    MDF

Nope! Best to use primer really. You could use water based primer instead of oil based.

Farrow & Ball or not Farrow & Ball...that is the que

On top of that I'd also say that F&B doesn't touch up well. So for a couple of marks its best to paint the whole wall otherwise it shows up.

    Failed 5:1 Mist coat

I think you'll find if you stick sellotape onto any mis coated walls in parts it will come off!

    2 layers of lining paper?

Sounds a bit bizarre! Never heard or done it myself, lining twice. If the surface is still not good after you applied the lining paper then lining again wont get rid of imperfections. Had bad is the surface after lining? Is it acceptable for yourselves?

    Painting the House

Well said. I'd agree with what davellew69! Buying cheap paint is a waste of time in the long run as you'll have to use more to get the same coverage as trade paint.
