    wta2000 dryer

hi, just fixed my dryer with using 'sticks like ****' by glueing the extractor fan back on to the motor shaft. then realised that you could actually buy new fans and clips to secure them (search for bosch wta2000 spares) then learnt that the Bosch wta2000 is actually made by a company...

    single pipe upgrade

hi all, thanks for your help on a previous post which has helped me determine that my house has a single pipe system. i'm fitting new rads throughout and some of the older ones did not get hot (possibly they were on the end of the ring) and want some advice about this please. 1) having...

    radiator query

thanks tamz that all makes sense except the gravity part, what incentive is there for hot water to rise into the radiator and the cold water that's already in the rad to drain out? the hot water in the pipe will be the same temp at both connections to the rad. or is the fractional difference...

    radiator query

OK - half way there! the upstairs has the rads in series and each rad has a pipe as in the above photo which connects across the inlet / outlet of the rad. the suspicious looking extra pipe on the right side of the photo (heading down on the pic) actually is a tee to feed the rad in the...

    radiator query

thanks for your help on this guys. on the left and right of the of the pic you will see the vertical pipes which join to the rad. further left than the left side rad feed pipe, there is another underfloor pipe (going down to bottom of the picture) which has travelled the length of the room...

    radiator query

obviously! what i mean is there are two copper pipes under the floor heading towards each rad from the central heating system. each of these pipes goes to one end of each rad but the pair of pipes are 'shorted out' under the floor before they reach each rad so if the shorting pipe was not there...

    radiator query

looked again and there are 2 pipes going to each rad which i assumed to be supply and return. every rad however seems to have a 'sorting' pipe directly across it! if they were in series why are there 2 pipes to each rad?

    radiator query

im tempted to squash the pipe which is in parallel with tha rads is this bad idea?

    radiator query

so the rads are essentially in series rather than parallel? if this is so why would anyone do this - just to save copper pipe? would this also expalin why its difficult to balance the system?

    radiator query

    what does that mean?

    radiator query

ah i see - but why would water want to flow through the rad under normal circumstances? would it not be sensible to have one global pipe perhaps with a pressure relief valve? to provide this service why lots of them?

    radiator query

hi guys, in the middle of a big renovation of my house and fitting new trendy rads but have a strange issue. i've seen this when replacing radiators downstairs and wondered about it then but now its got me confused. there are two pipes going to the rad as usual; supply and return but...

its a galvanised water tank, why do i need to worry about the float valve? not enough space at the sides to get a drill in :(

    essex flange

hi im replumbing the way the water flows to the shower pump as its installed incorrectly. the cold supply to the cylinder has a tee in it to supply the cold input to the pump which causes lower pressure at the hot pump supply. the problem is that the cold storage tank is 'built into the...

    water pressure

the system currently pumps both but just the water flow to the hot is much less than to the cold supply to the pump, why is this?
  18. D

    water pressure

any suggestions appreciated! the tank is only half meter above the cylinder and the water presure available at the hot and cold to the pump are a lot different (cold much more). have tested this just by taking off the supplies to the pump one at a time so its not to do with the way its...

    water pressure

the system has been incoreectly fitted (hot supply to pump teed off the horizontal outlet pipe on top of cylinder) but it did used to work. there has always been a difference in hot and cold supply to the pump even when each was tested individualyand the system worked the question is should...

    water pressure

i have asked the wrong question  thanks for your help anyway because i now realise that the cold supply to the bathroom tap is actually mains fed and so asking about the taps pressure difference was not getting the answer to my real question. what i was trying to establish is why...
