    Dimmer overload Makes no difference what voltage they are it's the wattage of each lamp 7 down lights at 50W = 350 Watts What's the rating on the dimmer? I bet it's 250 Watt

    Could be brushes arcing on liquidiser causing some of form interference and/or spikes . Most are class II so won't have an earthed casing Put a radio near liquidiser when it's running soon see if it's chucking out EM.

    I think OP means a 'volt stick' not neon screwdriver. As others have said volt sticks have their use and as long as they are proved each time on a known 'live' circuit before and after test
