If I was working on a lighting circuit, and the IR test came out at 0.8M, would I not be able to carry out the work on the circuit until it had been rectified? Also if that result came out on a periodic what code would it be?
Any switches with neons, ELV transformers or dimmers still in the circuit?
Burglar alarm tapped off the lights?
Outside light with a damp problem?
Periodic, I'd code it as 3
You can't carry on working on that circuit, as the minimum required IR is 1.0MΩ for a 230V circuit, so you can't sign this circuit off as being compliant with BS7671 on your EIC / MEW
In that case, anything less than 2M ohms there is a possibility of a latent deferct and would require further investigation.
The book you need is Guidance Note 3
