    Lockout

Thank you all - I have serviced the boiler tonight - I done it 18 months ago. The nozzle must have been blocked as it now works fine. Thank you to all for your input. Regards.

    Lockout

My oil boiler locked out two days ago but was reset and continued to work. Today it is locked out and will not reset. Three weeks ago it had a new solenoid valve in the pump. The motor runs and the burner fires. It then runs for 6 seconds only and locks out again. Can someone tell me what is...

    Red diesel

I'm sure this has been asked before but what happens if I put red diesel in my oil boiler-will it soot up? will it work? What would be a red diesel/kerosene ratio which would be ok without problems?

    microbore system

I am going to put in a radiator in a conservatory and connect it in 8mm pipe to the manifold and use the two manifold points that used to be on a radiator that I have removed to allow for the conservatory door to be knocked through. The pipes connect to the manifold with nuts onto male threads...

    new radiator

Hi everyone, I have to add a radiator to a system. It is 8mm pipework. The manifold is 28mm with the 12 pipes (6 rads) coming off it. There are no blanks to use. The flows and returns for all the radiators go into the manifold together all next to each other. Manifold is about 150mm in...

    What a load of baffles

I have just changed the baffles in an oil boiler as the old ones were at the least mis-shaped and the worst very mis-shaped and split. What does anyone think has caused this and how can I make sure it doesn't happen again. It is a small Grant about 2 yrs old situated in a small cupboard in a...

    Wiring for electric shower

Hi all, I have been asked to replace an electric shower (Redring Actice 300 7.2KW) with something more powerful. I have no knowledge of electrics and would like to know what higher KW ratings do for a shower and would the wiring on the current unit be safe if a 8.5KW shower was fitted? Thank...

Oil boiler is filling with soot

Do you have a copy of the installation/commissioning/servicing instructions? In here you would find the air settings required depending on the output of your boiler. It sounds as if the oil pressure, air setting and CO2 levels need to be checked with an analyser (commissioning). I would have...

Oil boiler is filling with soot

Has the boiler been commissioned correctly? This would ensure that the burner is running at the correct settings as per the manufacturer. It sounds like the air setting could be too low and therefore is running to rich and creating the soot.
