Not wishing to be tooooooo sarcastic newoilman but by the fact youve just been to............blah blah blah, this is for a paying punter and you have to ask questions on a forum to fix a boiler which quite clearly you havnt the faintest idea what your doing :?:

yes obviously the photcell, why? cus its only 4 notes trade and a muppet could change it.

:D :) :(      :p      ;) :!: :?:

Have you tried to see if you have a spark it sounds like spark probes,ht leads or transformer. The photo cell only detects a flame to keep the oil on.

have you checked it for soot? give it a wipe.

if its sooty, it needs a service.

RDB Burner will not spark until it atempts to light. What you have is it running at wash pressure which means PE cell is detecting false light or faulty, Test by taking out and cover from light whilst firing. Also check voltage to coil (27v to operate/3v to hold down), if it doesn't energize it won't close to enable oil to reach nozzle. Rule out motor, capacitor, pump and drive dog at this stage. If no lock out it won't be electrodes or HT leads or transformer (which is built into control box). You should have 50v a/c at the white wire when motor running.

WRONG It also looks for darkness before hand, so if it is faulty it can cause the burner to purge forever. Also since your fixing the boiler you obviously have a oil pressure gauge so connect your pressure gauge to your oil pump and crack open the bleed screw when burner is purging to check for a good flow of oil because if your pump drive coupling is worn it will also cause the burner to purge forever and that may need replacing. If the two of the above are ok you have to look at solenoid coil or control box ;)

as others have said

i would go with photocell first followed by electrode/leads. Control boxes do go but normally with a lockout state.

Always for a continually running fan it has been 1 of the above. And these parts are the cheapest aswell.
