Hi there. Sounds like the machine has gone into flood mode. There will be water in the base which turns on the pump and overides any other controls. Try tipping the dishwasher backwards and see what runs out on the floor. If you have water in the base then you need to check for leaks.

Hi Jon. Flood protection on a Bosch would result in the drain pump running .On some models it still runs even when the door is opened. Sounds more like a pcb fault or power loss to the machine. The plug in the wall socket is ok isn't it? Cheers Eric.

Hi. You need to replaced the wall socket as well as the plug top. Heat is generated because the pins of the plug are are a poor fit in the socket.
