Hi
I'm looking to replace the rad in our hallway. When considering the output do I also need to take into account the stairs and first floor landing? As it is both hall, stairs and landing feel warm enough.
I have run the hallway measurements through a BTU calculator and require an output...
Hi folks, hope someone can help me with my situation.
I wanted to replace my existing tired looking shower head with a new exposed rigid riser kit. I wanted to know what sort of things i should look out for before purchasing the riser kit.
I want to connect the exposed riser kit to a...

Hi
no we have never polished the mantle piece. We only moved into the house about 6 weeks ago.
Have managed to apply a coat of finish to the fireplace for the time being. It required constantly reapplying the paint. We will need to sand and wipe down the fireplace befor applying the...
Thanks for your reply
Surface was wiped down before second coat of primer and before applying finish.
Unsure whether woodwork was formerly varnished or oiled. Definately not painted.
Primer is oil based Johnstones woodprimer.
Finish I had assumed, is oil based, Farrell & Ball...
Hi there,
I am in the process of decorating our living room.
We have a wooden fieplace which we have sanded and applied two coats of primer leaving a couple of days between coats. After leaving the second coat to dry overnight we started to apply and eggshell finish.
However, the finish...
thanks again.
Will I need to wait until I have replaced the radiator or can I re-pressurise the system with the boiler set to hot water only.
I understand it is a sealed system but was hoping to have hot water while I re-decorate and consider replacing the current radiator.
thanks for...
I am currently re-decorating the living room. I have successfully stripped walls and washed down and sanded and am now in the process of filling all the cracks and holes before painting directly onto the walls, therefore I am looking for as smooth a surface as possible.
Whilst the majority of...
Thanks for the reply.
Think I remember seeing this little silver hose underneath the boiler. presumably i just open both the valves and wait for the system gauge to repressurise to 1.5bar. Pretty straightforward.
Thanks for the help!
I am doing some decorating in our home and have removed one of the radiators to decorate behind it. I am now considering replacing the radiator.
However, since removing the radiator we have no hot water and the pressure gauge on our Worcester 28i junior boiler is 0. The system has been set...
Thanks for all your help folks. Unplugged everything! And managed to reset the rcd. Power has now returned although still suspect there is a short lurking somewhere in the system. Will get this fixed once the decorating is completed.
Happy days
By everything do you mean kitchen appliances also? Have popped out of the house for about an hour so will double check when I return. Thanks for your help so far
Thanks Ed. However the steamers were both working fine together for a good hour or so before the switch tripped. Sorry should have mentioned that earlier. I take it the is nothing I can do myself to rectify this problem. i.e. Replace fuse or check plug socket.
I did also try to isolate the...
Hi there. I am doing some light renovation work in our new property. Yesterday I had two wallpaper steamers running off the same extension cord. Into that mix I added an electric sander in a different socket. After a couple of minutes the whole circuit went down.
Checked the mains box and...
Thanks Tony,
I agree, although I hate to be defeated and shall take one final crack as I'm pretty sure where I have been going wrong. Failling that I think it is indeed time to call in the experts.
Cheers.
Unfortuantely I am not near the boiler at the moment. But did give it a quick glance this morning and both guages were within the limits.
Would the pressure relief valve be able to have and afftec on the leak.?
Thanks I'll order the part now and give it go tomorrow but am concerned that when I remove the auto air vent the pipe its sits on will start to spill out loads of water.
