Whilst I am in a mood for posing questions ... :) I posted this in the Woodwork forum and was wondering if anyone here had some advice. I have lots of old Victorian floorboards and doors in my house and am looking for varnish that will naturally darken the grain after sanding without...

    Floor Varnish Recommendations

Hi there. I have read somewhere that water-based floor varnish does not darken wood naturally as much as polyurethane varnishes. I have Victorian pine floorboards and I wish to bring out as much natural depth of colour and grain as possible without staining them. Any recommendations on a...

    Removal of internal wall

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone could give me a ball-park estimate of the cost and time required to knock through an internal wall on the 1st floor of a house, supporting it with an RSJ. The wall is about 3" thick and 8ft long. Is it a big job that takes days and costs thousands of £££ ...
