    Wallpaper shrinkage

As an update, I ``pretended`` to fix the problem. I actually sat upstairs watching the football for a couple of hours used a bit of negative psychology, and she is convinced it is sorted. She is of the opinion that I spent several hours sorting the problem, so therefore it is.

    Wallpaper shrinkage

Hello all, help or advice please. I have hung wall paper in the upstairs bedroom, like I have done many times before. I always allow for shrinkage in the vertical joints and butt up. For some reason the wallpaper has shrunk more than normal, and one or two of the vertical joints, there is a gap...

    Building Control Inspections

Is he an architectural tech or a fully qualified architect? (I know.. a contradiction in terms). I doubt a tech would need or have any indemnity insurance. I would have thought that the person who would need indemnity insurance would be the structural engineer to qualify the calcs.

    Laptop has died

Many thanks for the constructive advice and replies. Just to update, I had a local IT expert give it a diagnostic once over before I binned it, and indeed the motherboard and screen were finished. He also backed up the remaining files. Now I go shopping to the PC store. Thanks again

    Laptop has died

Thanks for the replies, yes I do a back up every week. The reason I want to save the hard drive is that there are a couple of albums added since last back up. If it is more cost effective to just buy the new albums, then so be it.

Hello again, I am not confident pulling it apart, so may pay for expert help. It is a Dell Inspiron 1545, less than 2 years old. To re-cap, does not start up, no screen, after about two minutes of switching on, it emits the beeps, in groups of 4, ie 1 beep, 2 beep, 3beep, 4 beep, small gap...

sk+ with magic eye and ver8 remote

I have the same set up in the bedrooms on a second sky box (independant fro downstairs). I was told by a sky engineer when he set it up that...the remote volume will only work with the parent tv which is hard wired to the box. ie; not the tv connected via the magic eye.

    Unable to unlock back door

Had the exact same problem. I used a hammer to bang down on the handle. It unlocked the door, but left the handle ``floppy``, still able to lock and unlock though. I would only recommend this as a last resort, as I was told by a builder the only alternative was to cut out the door.

    Window Handle snapped.

Thanks for the replies and advice. The top screw WAS hidden by a solid brass cap which I thought was part of the handle. Had to use a knife to remove, to damaged to replace. I started removing the handle and noticed a keyhole shaped spring, could you tell what this is for before I pull the...
