changing a wooden floor to concrete

Well after 3 yrs, i'm actually planning on doing this this weekend now, but, I'm only doing a slab 1200 x 600 under the machine as the pipework will be a nightmare. I'm thinking of building a block wall under the area up to 2" under the existing joists as it is 2-3ft deep, laying blocks flat on...

    Insulation under floorboards

The room is being replastered so taking up the floor is only an extra days work as all the skirting is off already etc. The 100mm was £3 cheaper a roll so not much in it. I'll go back and get 100mm. Thanks for the help :)

    Insulation under floorboards

I'm a bit stuck! I bought 200mm insulation to go under the floor boards in a ground floor room I'm decorating. 1930's house. After taking up the floor, I see that the joists are 4x2" rather than the 6x2" I was expecting. I will use chicken wire to hold the insulation in place between the...

    25mm into house

The end of the blue pipe, where it comes into the property is in the front room under the floor and carpet, so cant really have a stop tap there. I would have thought they would have gone blue pipe right up to the stop tap under the stairs, but they didn't.

    25mm into house

OK no probs. I'll sign off on the job and pay them :D I might change the 15mm to 22mm plastic in the future as we're still suffering from low flow rate when shower and toilet flushed etc which is what i'd hoped this would solve. It has improved the flow rate a little :)

    25mm into house

Are there any rules about having pushfit under the floor boards? The pipe was only fitted a couple of weeks ago to replace a lead pipe that had been crushed under the driveway. The stop tap was moved at the same time.

    25mm into house

I have a 25mm blue pipe into the house in the front room under the floor. It comes through the foundations, then it changes via a 90° pushfit connector to 15mm plastic and goes under the floor to the stop tap (also pushfit) under the stairs. Is this correct? I thought the stop tap should be...

    cavity floor and radon

Thanks for the reply. The front of the house are wooden floors with a void underneath (1st living room and passage/stairs), and the back of the house is concrete floors (2nd living room and kitchen). If I add more air bricks to the front, i assumed this would have no effect as there is no...

    cavity floor and radon

Hi- Moved house, and our radon test has come back high so we need to do something about it. The house has a mix of concrete and suspended wooden floors (traditional construction joists and floor boards). I have read quite a bit about how to reduce the radon. If i understand correctly, a...
