Electric oven not heating up but grill works fine

It's the EOB 976. I'm thinking that the heat could have been from it initially working when I turned it on and then breaking down and cooling during cooking. I've got the grill on now, but when it's cold again I'll test the oven to make sure. Is fitting a replacement heating element a...

Electric oven not heating up but grill works fine

My Electrolux oven is barely heating up yet the grill works fine. I was cooking my dinner earlier, and when I opened the door it was only slightly warm, i.e. I could reach in and take the shelves out with my bare hands. The temperature light comes on, as does the fan. Also the grill works...

    Electric oven fan not working

Local electrical shop said £51 for a new motor. Not the end of the world, but I thought I'd have a look at the motor anyway before parting with my cash. Turns out the problem was one of the caps holding the bearing assembly together had come slightly loose causing just enough friction for the...

    Electric oven fan not working

The fan on my electric oven has stopped working. The heater element works fine, but there is a buzzing noise coming from the fan motor and it is not spinning. Is it likely that the fan motor is dead, or could it be repaired? If the motor is broken, what sort of price would a new one cost, or is...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

I contacted Heatrae Sadia and they gave me the number of a heating engineer certified to work on Megaflo units. I'll give them a call on Monday and speak to them. One last question, would the big companies like British Gas have engineers with the necessary certification to work on sealed...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

No water came out the radiators, hence me thinking that the pressure was down in the CH system. I've regenerated the expansion gap in the tank, which seems to have fixed the other problem I had (drip from pipe outside). I do already have a full set of user guides for every part of the system...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

If it helps the boiler is an Ideal Classic FF240. The hot water tank is a Megaflo. The hose in the airing cupboard has a little tag on it saying "Filling Loop: Disconnect when not in use". I presumed the screw valve prevented any unwanted flow to and from the main supply. I have a digital camera...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

OK, I've had a look through some of the posts turned up by the search and I just wanted to check something before deciding what to do. To fill up the system should I be using a filling loop by the boiler or the one by the hot water tank? It also seems that I should be checking the pressure in...

    Intermittent drip from HW tank

Well I've done it! Seemed fairly straightforward, although it went much quicker when I opened a downstairs hot tap instead of upstairs. Thanks again for your help oilman, I shall check tomorrow for the tell-tale wet patch by the pipe outside, hopefully this problem is now fixed though. I...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

Thanks again oilman. I'll take a look through.

    Intermittent drip from HW tank

Thanks oilman. I think I will leave it for the moment. We've only just moved in and were looking into getting a service contract for the system. Is it worth paying monthly for a service contract to cover everything, or just pay for an annual service and hope nothing major goes wrong while the...

    Mira electric shower

My parent's shower does that. My guess is that it cools the heater element down so that the next person doesn't get scalded if they use it straight after you. Could be wrong though, as their shower only runs for about 10 seconds after switching off.

    Intermittent drip from HW tank

Me again, another minor problem with my new house! The HW tank is a Megaflo tank, and there is an intermittent drip from the pipe outside coming from the pressure reflief valve. The user guide for the tank has instructions for recharging the expansion air volume which should stop this (close...

Bleeding rads didn't work, do I need to repressurise CH?

I've recently moved into a fairly new house. The problem is with two upstairs radiators, the bottom half is hot, top half is cold. I tried bleeding them but only a small amount of air came out of one and none at all out of the other. The pressure gauge on the boiler doesn't move off 0 bar, yet...
