2 Core - 10mm2 PVC XLPE SWA - armour as CPC in an exported PME supply?

Cheers, it's done anyway, was initially going to have halogen lights Your assuming an awful lot. I've been involved in a lengthy battle to get Scottish Power to upgrade the supply to my property. Until just a few weeks ago there was no earth at all and the 2-core was laid many months ago at a...

2 Core - 10mm2 PVC XLPE SWA - armour as CPC in an exported PME supply?

Hi all, After some advice. I'm xporting a PME supply to a timber shed/workshop with no extraneous-conductive parts. The supply will come from an aditional CU in the house with a 40amp MCB and the outbuildings will have the following circuits fed from a CU in the shed/workshop: 4mm2 radial...

Yeah, replace it with mine would probably make most sense, fair enough. Cheers!

Actually this all came about because I need to run power to an outbuilding, I have another small 2 way metal CU to be fitted (to the right of the current CU) which will supply it, I need to earth the armour of the 10mm2 2-core SWA that will be terminated in an adaptable box on the outside wall...

I totally agree but it's taken them 5 months to do this work with constant pushing from me, we had no choice to use it in that time, it's just been installed this afternoon. I'll connect up the earth myself tomorrow, I have the 16mm2 cable and the block already and can of course now safely...

Correct, they've advised that it's my responsibility to arrange an electrician to run the earth from the cutout to the consumer unit. In reality I'll run 16mm2 to an additional earth block and take off from that to the consumer unit and also the armour of the SWA that's going to be running to...

So that's the new supply been installed. It's 100a and they kindly fitted the isolator I requested and also drilled an extra hole for me while they were there for the SWA for the outbuildings. Looks like a nice tidy job...?

So an update on this, finally! I'm getting a new supply from the road at no cost. They're coming in through the garden, they've started work today with the excavation team. The whole street needs to be closed off as the main supply is on the other side of the road! Anyway, should all be...

Newly laid turf (October 2017)in a sorry state...

Thanks, actually that's not clippings from being cut, I only cut yesterday for the first time and the clippings were on the whole, collected. That's what's happened to the newly laid turf over the winter, much of it has just turned to mush like that, not having been cut at all, I assume because...

Newly laid turf (October 2017)in a sorry state...

Hi all, I'm after some advice. Last year I completely overhauled our garden, removing lots of hedge, a dead willow tree, old patio, levelling out a 2 tier garden, building a sleeper retaining wall, fencing and various other bits, I did most of the work myself but got a landscaper in to do the...

Need advice on a re-roofing job currently underway at my home....

First image sent by the roofer there, should this still be lead capped or is this acceptable on a dry ridge system? Certainly looks much better.

Need advice on a re-roofing job currently underway at my home....

Thanks for the replies. I've discussed my concerns this morning with senior management of the company and the've just had someone else go out and look at it. They've agreed it's not up to par and assured me that all the lead will be removed today along with the already cut ridge tiles and...

Need advice on a re-roofing job currently underway at my home....

So work had continued this week and despite my concerns I was assured by the company that the methods used by the contractor were acceptable and they would warranty the work. I've come home to find this today, apparently the job finished....?? Can anyone comment on this, looks...

Need advice on a re-roofing job currently underway at my home....

Hi all, thanks for taking the time to read this. A couple of years ago we bought an ex-council end terrace 50's house, we've had some problems with the old slate roof and a roofing/roughcasting firm were out canvassing in the area and quoted us to have the roof replaced with tile, the price was...

I will do thanks. We are looking at the possibility of converting our large loft at some point in the not too distant into a large bedroom so I guess that's good ammo to reject their through the loft with the cable idea too.

Meter/CU cupboard is at the front of the house already, the wall immediately to the right (2 foot away) of the meter, on the other side of that is the closest corner of the house to the road. All they'd have to do is lift a section of monoblock (however wide they need for a trench) maybe 10m up...

The ONLY thing I can think is that there's an area directly below the wooden board the CU, Meter and so on is mounted has very clearly been plastered over, I can only assume during these works. Could it be that there is in fact an earth bond to the supply cable outer sheath and it's been buried...

What I do find odd is that on page 6 of the rewire check / CU install it has listed all the checks for the supply cables and earth listed as C3, requiring improvement, yeah no **** :o

Looks that way, 16mm2 main earth cable into the CU is, as far as I can tell, connected to absolutely nothing :/ I've Ze tested this myself on a new Fluke 1652c I bought for testing my outbuildings installations and it just gives error4 (fault voltage), Ze test at a friends property is fine so...

Just an update to this if anyone's interested. So I've been on to SPEN they've been out and have had to get access to the other 3 houses in the block (I'm an end terrace of 4) Turns out that of four houses (assumed the other end terrace) only one has the main cable head/cutout and this is a...
