From what I can see, and I will need to measure this, the holes for the pipes need to be the diameter plus 4-6mm. I am guessing that this is likely to hopefully give enough lateral movement to push the panel into the corner part?

Lets say its good practice to tank these things, they are only 4mm thick, from memory the lip on tanking tape is around 10mm. Would this mean that I would have to ensure that the sealant bead width will have to extend over the edge of the tape which would mean a bead of around 8-10mm?
