    windows xp

I don't think its virus related, and never call a help line if you can help it, there less helpfull than there name implys. If you dont have any anti virus software AVG is free and gets quite good reviews. (I use sophos) Which program stops responding ? If its only 1 then its likely to be a...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Hi CrisR, I'd never considered this before now but suppose I could in theory run a hose out the window and see how high I can get it to spray to get a pressure aproximation. The neighbours would be very entertained. When I took the shower off the wall last night I flushed it out in both...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

I've just taken the shower back off the wall and tried the feed to it (with a hose duck taped on) and it has much less flow than the cold tap, but since I don't have a gauge and I havent found a way of aproximating the pressure from the flow I can't be certain that either has enough pressure...

    MCB Keeps Triping

Have you extended the ring or are the double sockets spurs ? You can only have 1 double socket per spur ! not that this would cause the MCB to trip. Does it still trip every couple of hours if you have nothing or very little running on the ring ?

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Hi tatdo, Both the bath cold tap and the shower are mains fed, by 15mm pipe. The old shower wasnt pumped. I had a good look at it last night, it seems to have improved slightly, it was warmer outside so maybe thats raised the mains pressure slightly ? Its a Redring Active 320 The cold...

Advice regarding hot water system - not combi.

Have a look at the hot water tank, I have a freind with an old system that used to run out of hot water and you had to wait 5 or 6 hours for the tank to fill again. It turned out to be a partialy blocked up ball valve so the tank was emptying and taking ages to re fill. I cant help with the...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Cheers ChrisR, but I was thinking of the litres per min I should be getting at the feed to the shower so I could track the problem down to being either the supply or the shower itself. 3 doesnt sound allot, maybe I should have bought a 10.5kW the old one was a 6.5kW it must have been...

Removing a bidet - stop ends etc

I'm not certain but I think to use the plastic push fittings you need a better edge than you'll get with a hack saw so buy a pipe cutter. You should also be able to get some kind of blank cap for the waste. I've used Hep2O plastic pipe and fittings a few times in the last 3 months with no...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Hi Breezer, I know bar is pressure but if you have a given pressure and pipe diameter cant you calculate a flow rate which is just a volume per min ? I was hoping someone would say some thing along the lines of "x gallons per min is roughly 1 bar" I'm going to have another go at it...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Hi Kimba, thanks for replying The whole bathrooms being replaced so yes it could be T'd into the bath tap supply quite easily since I'm going to have to move it anyway I'll trace the pipe its currently T'd off properly to double check exactly where it goes (its hidden a bit in the loft by...

shower ? more like electric water pistol

Hi All, I've just fitted a 8.5Kw shower to replace an old one which I should have tried before scrapping it, at least then I'd know if the new shower is at fault or not. The pressure is really feeble. The shower also shuts off its heating element if you turn it above about 3 (the pressure...

    Wiring a Cooker point

The cabaling went ok, that part of the kitchen turned out to be only just inside the house not in the extension so I managed to go over the top with very little hassle. halogen hobs are an improvement but still not as responsive as gas. Thanks for the help everyone Allan

    Wiring a Cooker point

I'll just go for it with the 6 and see how I get on. I still have an old 6 to replace with a 10 for the shower yet but I havent yet started on that part of the house. If I remember right a 8.5Kw shower is around 38.9A ? (might not be exact but I looked it up ages ago and I'll double check it)...

    Wiring a Cooker point

I never thought of that, might combine the solder and duck tape. I'm not sure, I'll have to do some measuring. As an alternative to 6 could 2x 2.5 be used ? It'd be much more flexible, or there might be a good case for using 4 is there much difference in the flexability of 4 and 6 ? I've only...

    Wiring a Cooker point

thanks ban-all-sheds I'd be tempted to run the 22A on the 2.5 I know its a bit close to 24A but it is only the width of a small kitchen, would that be ok ? but the MCB would then be a problem I've never seen a 22,23 or 24 so it looks like I need to replace the cable electic hobs are cr*p...

microbore hep2O or equivalent for CH ?

I've been warnet that before but unfortunatly the whole system is in microbore and I dont have the time or money spare to replace it so I'm stuck with it for now, hopfully it won't cause a problem until I can afford to do something about it. I'm just looking for a quick and easy way to join it.

    Wiring a Cooker point

I wish I'd checked this forum before wiring mine, unfortunatly I took the advice of several other people who calimed all ovens only required "a simple plug in" and now I've tiled over the floor. I'm now frantically looking for a manual for the one I was going to buy with fingers crossed hoping...
