    Replacing CH pump

The old pump got water into the windings and failed, I dried it out but it didn't recover. I'm planning on getting a new boiler soon so I don't want to spend £100 on a new pump, but I'd like some heat in the meantime :)

    Replacing CH pump

Just wondering why it would be impractical to adapt it? I can move the pipework on one side of the pump to make room for the slightly longer pumping solution.

    Replacing CH pump

Swapping the head seemed like a good plan, annoyingly it doesn't fit :( Time for a new boiler, I've been keeping this one going for far too long....

    Replacing CH pump

My CH pump died and someone has kindly given me one to fit. The new pump seems to have a 1.5" bsp fitting, but the old one looks like 1" bsp. I can't really change the fittings as I'd have to modify the boiler a fair bit (it's an old Glowworm compact 80). I can't seem to find the right reducer...

Washing machine (Hoover PE235) Gets stuck in cycle

Well, I took the plunge and replaced the timer, it hasn't solved it. I suspect there's a sensor somewhere that's not working, anyone got a clue where to start looking? I'm currently still using the machine, I just have to nudge it on at the end of the rinse cycle then switch it off when it...

Washing machine (Hoover PE235) Gets stuck in cycle

I haven't as it spins fine, all night in fact :( I just can't get it to finish. It also gets stuck at other stages during the cycle, gently nursing the control forward seems to get it to carry on but this doesn't work during spin. This is why I initially suspected the timer but since it does...

Washing machine (Hoover PE235) Gets stuck in cycle

At various points in the wash cycle, it gets stuck. At first I could encourage it to move on but now even that doesn't work at the spin stage. I've taken the timer apart and it looks fine, the motor does turn during the cycle, so I'm not convinced I need a new timer. I looked at the filter...

bath drops about 5mm when full

I do think the bath is flexing a little. I did manage to measure one of the 2x4 skis only moving by 2mm (the one nearest the room corner), so the floor is flexing too, maybe just not as much as the bath. I think I'll try wall brackets to start with as it's the easiest solution, I'm not into...

bath drops about 5mm when full

The joist is braced with another piece of wood, which is mostly what you can see and doesn't go into the wall. If you look to the right, you should see the joist behind it. I may be able to point a laser at it to look for movement, but it will have to be in the same room and therefore subject...

bath drops about 5mm when full

I don't like the prospect of taking up the entire floor, I've been without a bathroom for long enough as it is :( I suspect all the joists in the entire house are dodgy, but one room at a time.... I've uploaded a couple of pics. //www.diynot.com/network/weird_dave/albums/3187 The...

bath drops about 5mm when full

Right, I've done the wallpaper stripping and have borrowed a camera, what pics do I need to take? Please don't make me move the bath :)

bath drops about 5mm when full

Crumbs, what have I got myself into! Not sure what dry rot even looks like! I'll see if I can get hold of a camera and take some pics. I'm mid wallpaper stripping at the moment so it may be a few days before I get my act together. I really appreciate the contributions everyone has made so...

bath drops about 5mm when full

I've taken the plaster away for the brackets, they will screw directly into brick. I'll try it tonight and see what happens. Thanks, Dave.
