My CH pump died and someone has kindly given me one to fit. The new pump seems to have a 1.5" bsp fitting, but the old one looks like 1" bsp. I can't really change the fittings as I'd have to modify the boiler a fair bit (it's an old Glowworm compact 80). I can't seem to find the right reducer.

So the question is, is it possible? My brain says yes but google isn't agreeing so far....

It would be impractical to adapt it.
The options are
Either
get the "correct" pump from Glowworm
just swap the head - but I don't know if it's possible on that one, or
use a "generic" pump with the same fittings - ditto.

Can be a tricky area with manufacturers changing pump half way through product production period. GW might tell you - or not.

Um yes there was more than one boiler called Compact 80.

Swapping the head seemed like a good plan, annoyingly it doesn't fit :(
Time for a new boiler, I've been keeping this one going for far too long....

Just wondering why it would be impractical to adapt it? I can move the pipework on one side of the pump to make room for the slightly longer pumping solution.

For the price of a new pump it isn't worth trying to adapt it in my opinion
what is wrong with the old pump?

The old pump got water into the windings and failed, I dried it out but it didn't recover. I'm planning on getting a new boiler soon so I don't want to spend £100 on a new pump, but I'd like some heat in the meantime :)
