    Soil stack info

Can anyone tell me if there are any regulations around the boxing-in of the soil stack? It's located in the kitchen of my middle-floor flat, where I'm planning to do some work. After taking a peak behind the current wooden casing surrounding the soil pipe I'm thinking about reducing the size...

    Unibond no more cracks... HELP!

Has anyone used Unibond 'no more cracks'? I've used it on my ceiling but it sets rock hard and now that I'm trying to sand it down, it's a total nightmare. It takes ages and it's killing me! You just sand and sand and sand and it don't get anywhere. To be fair, on the tub it does say to...

    Patch up

I opted for the tighten ever so slightly and it seems to have worked. It didn't need very much force and and seemed to easily handle about a 1/4 turn. All good. Thanks for the advice, much appreciated - it's easy when you know how :D

    Patch up

Oh, I was worried that might make matters worse... but I guess it makes sense  Thanks, I'll give it a try.

    Patch up

Hello helpful people, can you suggest a way to patch up a leaking central heating pipe joint? I reattached a radiator to my system but in doing so must have stressed the joint as it's now leaking ever so slightly. The problem is that the leak is occurring on the main pipe-work, so I can't...

    Door/screws problem

@Squowse & HandyHands - thanks. Both, great suggestions. I think I will have to go for larger base plates, just keep balking at the cost of a pack of them! :)

    Door/screws problem

Thanks for the replies. I think the door is, as you say, hollow with timber at the edge so gluing in a block of wood to fill it sounds like the best option. Thanks

    Door/screws problem

I'm trying to fix the handle mechanism on an internal door. The door is an oldish, cheapo one, not made of solid wood and so, over the course of time has started to crumble at the handle area. The door handles can't be screwed tightly into the wood because there is nothing much left for the...

    Triton T80si

Oh, thanks - I wondered if there might be something like that to consider. The paperwork provided with the unit doesn't specify anything about that or what to do. Any other suggestions?

    Triton T80si

I contacted Triton with the above message and they didn't seem too interested. They just said that the unit should be flush, but that a bit of water down the back of the unit won't penetrate the sealed main part of it. Although that is the case, any water that gets down the back or into the...

    Broken electric shower

No, not yet! I'm able to shower at work so I've been a bit slack. Got a guy coming round on Friday to test the electricity to the unit.

Hey mickyg, is this unit still available? If so, please can you message me? Thanks

    Broken electric shower

...err, can you suggest a 'good', safe way to do that?

    Broken electric shower

I just spoke to the people at Triton. Because the power light on the unit is not illuminating I was advised that the unit might not be receiving power. They said I should get an electrician round (£££) to check that the unit is receiving power and that there isn't an electrical fault. If the...

    Broken electric shower

Hey Softus, thanks for the info. Having read the document in that link, my interpretation would be that this work does require notification of the LABC because it will take place in a 'special location'. Would you agree? Having said that, if I can get hold of a unit that has the inlet in...
