    Batten or Dot & Dab?

Understood! Could I bet away with 15mm PIR board on the walls if I batten it? Would that be thick enough/sufficient. I thought about OSB but wanted a smooth plastered like finish then think ply maybe more expensive than plasterboard?

    Batten or Dot & Dab?

Hi guys after a bit of advice. Have a detached garage around 5m long and 5m wide on one side (3m on the other so it’s on a slight angle) anyway… For the summer I want to get it all sorted. I don’t have a car in there, just a small workbench and a few tools nothing major. It has an old kitchen...

    Constantly Popping Fuses

@ericmark Just jumped back here to say thanks! As soon as you mentuoned cheap bulbs I realised the same thing that is common from all the scokets that do pop is the bulb! These were edision style LED bulbs from Home Bargains and that was the only thing common. Reason I didn't think of it before...

    Constantly Popping Fuses

Lamps are from TK Maxx, not the cheapest, (£30 each) I bougth some LED Vintage/Edison style bulbs same as below - When I took the plug off from the lamps they had no earth wire but googling this is quite common on some lamps? Happens on both sockets in the room bar the one for the TV :/ Such...

    Constantly Popping Fuses

Sorry! Tried to provide as much info and failed! So new lamps, plugged them in, would hear the bulb crackle and go out, would go get a new bulb and it wouldn't work. Open up the plug on the lamp for example and change the 3amp fuse for another and screw it all back in, then plug it in and...

    Constantly Popping Fuses

So, first off, only asking for advice, if the advice is get in a spark I will. If there is anything I can try, I also will as well. This has a bit of a background story to it as well. We have 3 bedrooms, main, large spare and box room if you will. In the main bedroom we have 3 double wall...

rj45 connectors. Does the order of wire cores matter?

Wasn't putting a paramiter in place. Was just stating a bit of how to. As I keep saying, I'd always do it the way I was taught!

rj45 connectors. Does the order of wire cores matter?

A network cable will still work, if it went wo/o/wg/g/wb/b/wbr/br on both ends. I wouldnt. But it does (I literally just tested this ;) ) It;s just copper wire at the end of the day if the ends are the same it doesn't matter. As said I wouldn't bother with doing it different though and always...

rj45 connectors. Does the order of wire cores matter?

Technically as long as the wires are crimped the same either end then it doesn't matter. But that would be poor practice. Doing my CCNA one of our first task was to make like 20 network cables. Was a crappy job but means I remeber the above off by heart! The best way to go for simple network...

    WiFi in large building

I wouldn;t even bother with an extender, if it;s a church hall I can see multiple people accessing one AP. I would speak to them about a Mesh network, or stick the router in modem mode and get something like Google WiFi, Tenda Nova or something like that. 3 Network points for about £300 (Tenda...

Best blocks to use? Low "wall"

https://www.howarth-timber.co.uk/building-materials/blocks/aggregate-blocks That's where I spotted it. May I also ask the benefit of 2 channels of foundations rather than one huge slab? Other than cost, just seems a bit more of a hassle to dig 2 trenches 200mm wide quite close to each other...

Best blocks to use? Low "wall"

100% never going to have soil in it, not for me, too much maintenance! Concrete block it is and I actually think that 2 strips maybe easier then in the end! Thanks for that advice! Will; help a lot!

Best blocks to use? Low "wall"

Hi All, Just about to start digging down a bit to lay a slab of concrete to build a small wall, it's going to be open, and not contain soil as I will batton about 1/2ft from the top and put some timber down, will hold a few artificial pants and some decorative stone. So nothing heavy at all...

Honeywell to Nest - Another Thread...

Hi, I literally just found a thread that has everything I had I think and I was about to link it! But it also shows the wiring same as you show! So actually seems quite "simple" I will get it all labelled up and give it a bash I think! Really appreciate that! We just have a standard combi...

Honeywell to Nest - Another Thread...

Please don't shout. I have read, searched etc but nobody appears to have the same Honeywell as me! Currently got a wireless Honeywell now, so took a look at the box on the wall (coming from boiler) and only seems to have a couple of cables, yet the nest seems to have a fair few sockets and...
