Apart from the use of what looks like plumbers mate? on the sink waste - I'm always amazed that installers/house-holders dont follow recommendations and fit non return valves on the wm/dw wastes pipes?
remember going to a blocked sink once - put my hand in to check if there was any blockage in the plug-hole (never ceases to amaze me how many times its that simple) - the silly cow of a tenant didnt tell me she tipped a bottle of caustic soda into the sink  - she come very close...
cheers chaps - I'll pas it through to an heating engineer just to check the boiler over to be on the safe side because this overflowed quite a lot (too much for the overflow to discharge anyway)
Hi all - is there any reason for a C/H header tank not to have a expansion pipe? - had a job last week that the header tank had boiled over but there was no expansion pipe? - only had a 15mm feed/22mm outlet and overflow outlet - not come across one before, thanks
threads shocking on them - in fact if theres nothing else available I always buy two just in case and its nearly always the case it cross threads - try to avoid at all costs - like previous posts - fluidmaster brass shanks all the way for me
Yesterday - the brother took in half a builders bag of old copper - half a bag of brass taps and a couple of stainless sinks - £70 - honestly I get amazed everytime we take something in
we are only here to help mate  - but in answer to your question - not please dont put the flexis under any kind of tension and if asking about frost-proofing the pump - dont put it where it can be subjected to frost - you'll be asking for trouble!
presuming if you cant see it you cant get to it? - if so theres not really a lot you can do unless you take it out and use jubilee clips on the joints - hate these baths - always had problems with them
Hi chaps, bit of advise please, my brothers boiler emits a burning smell when heating is on, its ok when hot water is running and ok when heating is on low, any ideas?, thanks
If the waste pipes are copper try not to put anything chemical down them - you can get enviromental friendly unblockers now - put it a full bottle down the pipe before you go to bed and check the flow in the morning - if that doesnt do the trick its a plumbers job I'm afraid - just a little tip...
sounds like a new syphon to me - easy enough for a diyer to fit if its a low level cistern (has a flush pipe leading into the back of the pan) - if its a close coupled one (where the cistern sits onto of the pan) then get a plumber in - can be a tricky job :?
are there rubber washers fitted? - you'll be suprised by the amount of times I've gone to leaks on these and normal washing machine hoses that didnt have the washers fitted
just a word of warning - from experience I've always found the thread on the plastic taps a little longer than on normal taps, so unless you have a bit of play of the copper leading upto it a flexi pipe might be your best bet esp if a portion of the plastic is still stuck inside the tap connector
