    Outdoor lighting circuit.

They are for outdoor LED lighting. The maximum single run will be 10 meters. The 240v run will be for the gate post lighting which is not LED.

    Outdoor lighting circuit.

Ah okay - sorry, I thought 240v was high voltage :) It will be a mix of 12v and 240v - I have done further Googling, and in looks like I should be digging a 2' trench with SWA for all - regardless of 12v/240v - is this correct? Also, do I need to place it in ducting, or is SWA sunk deep enough...

    Outdoor lighting circuit.

Hi all, Hope you're all keeping well. We're embarking on some building work on the house shortly, and we're getting a lot of the garden landscaped. I'm a keen DIY'er and would like to get involved in the build as much as possible. Being a cable enthusiast and having done internal electrics...

Valliant EcoTec Open Vent + Google Nest v3

Yeah - 38kw is needed - 5 bed edwardian property with 4 bathrooms so it's a bit of a beast. I've just googled the low loss headers so I'll mention it to him. Cheers :)

Valliant EcoTec Open Vent + Google Nest v3

Thanks for this. I wanted two v3's to allow cater for the farsight and better screen. Luckily now, the v3 does the hot water so perfect timing for the building work. There's only a slight discount for the v2 and I love my gadgets so took the plunge. £400 is a little excessive though :) I'll...

    Compression joint nightmare ! Gutted!

hey guys - just a quick update to say that I have managed to sort it out. I disconnected all valves, checked that they were all okay, dressed the olives in PFTE tape and made sure that the joints were properly tightened. Looking back I think I didn't tighten them enough... Thanks for all of...

    Compression joint nightmare ! Gutted!

Thanks for the prompt reply... :) Do you suggest I re-drain the system and purchase new olives too? Would tightening the joints be worth trying first? thanks again!

    Compression joint nightmare ! Gutted!

Hi there, Just spent the last 4 hours plumbing in a new Radiator by extending the pipes (from within the cellar). Each pipe has been extended however, 3 out of the 4 compression couplers have a slight drip coming from them! Gutted! What have I done wrong - have I tightened them too stong...

Chimney breast - brick up and plaster?

Thanks for the reply!!! I took your advide and didn't brick up the hole - I mounted wood around the outside and a connecting board across the middle to create a frame. I then got some plaster board and attached that. Plasterer came in at the weekend and has skimmed it. He did quote £80 but we...

    Floor Insulation

:) I'm not planning on using the digning room for anything dodgy :) We don't smoke either but I was just double checking it as I thought it would be a fire risk. I sanded the floor at the weekend and spend most of it on my knees cleaning out the gaps between the boards...there aren't as many I...

    Floor Insulation

I'm thinking of doing this too, however, is it a fire hazrd having loft insulation under my 1920's floorboards? there are small gaps between some of the floor boards where the connecting sections have been damaged. Just wondering if it's a fire risk if there was some ash to fall down this gap?

Chimney breast - brick up and plaster?

Hi there guys! New to all of this so please bear with me if I'm asking the obvious. I have a chimney breast in the room which has a square hole in it. I assume this used to have a fire but they (previous owners) took it out and made a square hole (which is about a 2' cube). I am wishing to...

Fitted a spur from Junction box but no power.

I did not check that - as I guess this is the first time venturing in to home electrics I assumed that every cable was live... I'll pop by B&Q and get one of those electrical testing screw drivers and see if there is power to that circuit, if not I'll look to find a live wire and fit...

Fitted a spur from Junction box but no power.

Hello! Bought my first house a few months ago and I'm fitting my first new double socket in the spare room. My issue is that I thought I had correctly connected the socked to the junction box there was no power. Other devices pluged in to the ring main function as expected (drill etc)...
