    RADS NOT GETTING HOT ENOUGH!!

Thanks for all your replies (including the funny ones! ) Sorry, I should have said it was installed some months ago and the heating was actually being used at the time. I've been doing it bit by bit during weekends. I don't want to start installing the oak floor if I have to get the ply up to...

    RADS NOT GETTING HOT ENOUGH!!

Hi all, Firstly, forgive me for being a muppet if you're a gas fitter but I'm a chippy that doesn't have a great deal of knowledge about pipe work for rads! I have just built a 6m X 6m extension on the back of my house with a vaulted ceiling and having used an online calculator it seems that...

    Installing a fixed shower head

Hi, I know it's a bit old but I was led here by a google search. I'm looking to do the same thing but the elbow is behind aqua board in a stud wall. I was looking to do the same thing re the extension but correct me if I'm wrong, you say to screw the 2nd item into the first. Isn't the male part...

fitting a negative head shower pump

Yes. The salamander instructions say that the best place for it is at the base of the cylinder and as near as possible. If this is not possible (it isn't) ensure there is at least 600mm head between the base of the water tank and the top of the pump (which there is). I've also realised today...

fitting a negative head shower pump

I've realised there is room for the pump on the shelf above the cylinder. Have fed the CWS down to just above the cylinder (low enough to fit the pump when it arrives) and will fit the surrey flange and use the side outlet of the flange and go up about a foot to connect to the pump also...

fitting a negative head shower pump???

As I said, I'm not a plumber. Thats why I was asking advice. :) I have now realised the use and importance of the surrey flange as seen on this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nflnMFlBZB4) I shall do as the video says and connect the hot water via the side outlet. Cheers all!

fitting a negative head shower pump

Yes you may be right. I'm fitting a surrey flange and having just watched a video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nflnMFlBZB4) on how they work, it seems I might get a lot of air in the water if I use the expansion pipe. The whole idea of a surrey flange is to feed the pump with non aerated...

fitting a negative head shower pump???

Hi all, I'm a carpenter and have just completed my loft conversion. I have some plumbing skills but I've never fitted a negative head shower pump before. My cylinder is on the first floor and the CWS is in the loft. I have a negative head twin salamander pump and a surrey flange as suggested...

152x152x51kg RSJ, Is there such a size???????????

Thanks for such a quick reply. I phoned Enfield Building Control and they have said they do exist but they are a new size and are probably hard to get hold of. They also said he was going overboard with the size as a 37kg would be fine. Its only spanning 5m. Lets face it, its a ridge beam...

152x152x51kg RSJ, Is there such a size???????????

Hi, I am about to embark on my own loft conversion but because of the minimal head height my architect has specified a 152x152x51kg RSJ for the ridge beam. I am having difficulty finding this beam as all the stockholders say the largest 152 beam is 37kg. Does anyone have any idea whether...

    cooker hood extraction distance.

Thanks for the speedy reply John. Why will I get grease deposits if the flexible hose goes all the way to the top of the chimney. Also, I am semi detached, I dont think my neighbours would be too impressed if I drilled into their kitchen with a core drill. I have a core drill but the only option...

    cooker hood extraction distance.

Hi, Does anyone know if I can vent my cooker hood through the chimney. I have just removed the middle of the fire breast in the kitchen and will install the cooker there. The extractor will obviously be above it but there is no where for the flue to go apart from straight up the chimney. The...

ADVICE? - PAINTING PEBBLE DASH & GLOSSING HARDWOOD FRAME

Hi, I'm looking to paint the front of my house as it is looking quite shabby/dirty. It has already been painted (quite some time ago) and is pebble dashed. 1. Is there an easy way of painting pebble dash? (a mate of mine once had a huge emulsion roller that looked like a shaggy dog- would...

REPLACING BASIN TAPS, NEW THREAD IS LONGER, PLEASE HELP!

I WOULD LIKE TO CHANGE THE TAPS ON THE BASIN IN OUR DOWNSTAIRS TOILET, BUT THE OLD ONES HAVE A REALLY SHORT THREAD. I WAS TOLD BY THE PREVIOUS OWNER THAT THE PLUMBER DID THIS TO KEEP UNSIGHLTY PIPEWORK OUT OF VIEW. I HAVE MEASURED THE THREADS ON 4 OR 5 DIFFERENT TAPS IN B&Q AND THEY ALL SEEM TO...
