    0.37 TNC-S Not Available

Westie, You saying I should connect then, they did leave the knockout open in the side which I though odd.

    0.37 TNC-S Not Available

John I know what you mean, bit like being just over the drink/drive limit and everything else we have rules for like 1 Hour Parking not 1Hr 2Min. Suppose I need to fit 100mA Rcd now at my own cost :-(

    0.37 TNC-S Not Available

During a refurb job, it was required to re-site the existing meter position. The original installation was connected TT with a spike in ground reading 402 Ohms. As they were going to renew the overheads we asked for TNC-S and they said should not be a problem. The meter is on one side of...

Weird Earth Continuity on Ring Main

Well this was my thinking and my Megger tester seems to play up when batteries are getting low, starts giving very odd readings, but no low battery warning. Sticking 250 up it just to confirm, more habit than anything else.

Weird Earth Continuity on Ring Main

Well my thinking here was that maybe 0.9 Ohms was not the correct reading. Not being aware of how the circuit was wired in terms of length etc. So I started thinking maybe the earth is correct and its either L or No that is not, I've had a neutral nailed before into the wall that gave...

Type 2 Mcb and 17th Regs

You are probably right about 16th, I had a print off, on all max zs values stuck on the wall above the PC, whenever my Amtech Software did show a value I just checked my print off. Just looked in the back of the GN3 and again you are right, how I missed that I don't know, I did fumble...

Type 2 Mcb and 17th Regs

Hi All, I see that Type 2 Mcbs are no longer mentioned in tables under Maximum permitted Zs in the new 17th Regs. The new values are based on 230V instead of 240V, so I imagine it's just a case of doing the equation to find maximum permissible Zs when carrying out a PIR and finding type 2...

    Glow.Worm Micron 50FF Temp Problems

You are correct, I did mean Thermometer, but we Electricians call eveything Stats :D Yes when the boiler hits 50° C the pipe is to hot to hold for more than a few seconds, but then it drops to 30° before cutting in again. By this time the rads are only warm and the rooms are getting cold...

    Glow.Worm Micron 50FF Temp Problems

Hi, I have a problem with a Micron 50FF, where the temperature is set to Max, I have a pipe stat on the flow and return above the boiler, which is only getting to 50 degrees C, the boiler then cuts off and temp drops back to 30 degrees C before coming back on. The return is always about 5...

    Shower problem...

Went to a Myra Shower fault last week, with similar problems. What was happening was the high limit was cutting in and out. I found that when I took the shower head handle off the hose, it looked like a bum hole :D and the hose had been turned around a few times and the rubber tube had...

    Burnt electic shower switch

How many times do I hear that people switch the shower on then go and pull the shower pull switch. They do this so they don't get sprayed with cold water. However the shower pull switch is an Isolation Switch and is not designed for on-load switching, hence if they do the contacts burn out...

    Wylex nb40

The Wylex NB range is an old range, but still available in limited stocks. A CEF Proteus Mcb 640/2 (40A Type 2) is a direct replacement for the NB and cheaper. Hope this helps.

    Thermostat replacement

If you have a Red and Blue, are you sure you do not have a Yellow. Your Earth should be bare with a green or green and yellow sleeve over it. However if you do have Red and Blue, then A=Live In, and B=Switched Live Out.

CAN I RUN A TELEVISION FROM A CEILING LIGHT ROSE

Chri5, hit the nail on the head when he said it's not good practice. However forget the word lights, it's a 6A circuit, and providing the correct cabling is used in accordance with the fuse protection everything is safe and complies with the regulations, the regulations do not tell you what...
