    Part P courses

    Can anyone give some advice on Part P courses, I am a qualified carpenter/joiner moving into kitchen/bathroom refits. There are a lot of companies offering short, 5 day courses. Is this enough to allow me to cert my own work, surely this isn't all i need, It can't be that easy-can it?

    Hinge jigs?

    Thanks for the help, I'm going to try the lie nielsen Butt Mortice Plane first. How do you set the hinge width especialy for wide hinges as the plane blade is only 3/8th or 19mm, is it done by eye after I mark around the hinge leaf?

    I want to speed up my door hanging, can anyone recommend a good hinge jig. The Trend contractor looks good but around £180 sounds expensive, what about the Progrip from Axminster, anything better?

    Oak floor-wax/oil or varnish

    What product can you recommend to apply to an oak floor in an entrance hall, it has an old varnish which I am going to sand off first? I am leaning towards wax/oil as it's easier to repair if damaged, the client want's the hardest wearing surface.

    Symptoms-thank's for your help, I haven't seen a better description in any of my books! I will try the epoxy route first. Have you used the window care system? I've seen it mentioned a few times in the forums, roger

    Cill replacement.

    What is the best way to replace a rotted cill from a sash window, i might be able to cut out the rotted area and use a filler but i'm not sure how bad it is untill i strip the paint off, also any advice on which filler i could use?

    How can i replace a rotten sash window cill? it is the external part of the cill that needs repair due to lack of maintenance and where can i source draughtproofing strips for the same windows, either self adhesive brushes or push fit strips that fit into a routed groove? roger
