    Pipe size for multipoint?

If id personaly done the training i wouldnt be asking. Ive jumped the gun and asked because ive a relative (who has done the training) coming up twixt xmas and new year to do the job, and was trying to make sure we'd have all the stuff to hand in case the plumbers merchants were shut. But, he...

    Pipe size for multipoint?

Hi, weve a new multipoint water heater to be installed, which is app. 10m from the gas meter. There is a modern CH-only boiler, and one gas fire currently running on the system. How much of the gas feed run to the multipoint can be 15mm? Cheers - Mick.

    multipoint starting to struggle

Hi, we have an old chaffateux multipoint, and lately its just not heating the water enough. (im aware of colder mains temps, but dont think this is th problem). Theres plenty of 'gas' burning through the window, and the water flow doesnt sem to have altered any (the heat setting is fully up)...

    Weep on boiler

We have a Mynute 20e CH only boiler that has developed a weep. The leak is on the thread of the fitting that houses the lever that empties the boiler, where it screws into the base of the pump. Does this make sense?? Its just a tiny drip, thats been going a while by the looks of things. Ive...

    Flue in the way

Im wanting to build a raised deck all along the back of the house. It would be towards a metre high, but.....the boiler flue (that is in the storage space under the house) exits below my intended finished level. Its a small, modern combi type 4''? affair. No 'chip basket' or anything. What...

    cistern type?

Is there a specific 'name' for the type of loo/cistern that are joined by a curved flush pipe, as opposed to the traditional close-coupled variety? And, anyone know of an outlet that sells them? The problem being that the outlet exits from the side of the pan (which cant be altered without a lot...

    Dry lining

My lad has a cellar that is essentialy 'dry'. But, his outer wall gets signs of damp coming thru now and then, (not surprising with the amount of rain). All that happens is the 'white-wash' on the walls starts to blister in places. Now, given this is quite a rough stone wall, would it be...

    Cavity Wall Insulation

This is an interesting one. Im due to have CWI installed quite soon, but i was never asked if i had any gas fires (i have one), and wether the room had a vent (which it doesnt). Is there a chance they are going to come, see the fire, see theres no vent, and require one to be fitted? I have to...

best way to take tiles off wall

Ive took it to mean hes wanting to re-use them....which may be a problem if they wont clean up well enough. He'd still have to 'isolate' the run from the adjacent tiles...or he could end up with a lot more coming out than he bargained for. :?

best way to take tiles off wall

Id say run an angle grinder straight thru the joints. (providing you know theres nothing under the tiles...pipes/cables.)

    Granite tiles

cheers gcol. Just to be absolutely sure....are we both talking about 'silicone' sealant for the tiles...as opposed to around the pipes? (that youve advised not to bother). Sorry to sound a plank - but this is too dear a job to balls up. Ive also got a lot of good info off the tiling sticky as...

    Granite tiles

Im looking to lay some highly polished granite floor tiles. Two questions......how much air-gap wants leaving around the CH pipes, and can you get some kind of chrome collars to mask the gap? And, do i need to apply some of that 'sealant' on them? If so, is this before or after grouting?

    New Bathroom regs?

Everything is basicaly in place pipe-wise. Theres only a few minor alterations for the new suite to drop into place. Theres only realy the shower box thats 'out of my hands' so to speak. I wasnt sure if there was any recent new rules to stop me doing the job officialy, thats all.

    New Bathroom regs?

Are there any rules and regulations that stop me refitting my own bathroom? I am quite competent to do so in theory, but i have no official plumbing qualifications. If i was to do the refit, then got a mate whos a qualified spark to do the dangerous bits - shower, cross-bonding etc...would this...
