    Flush pipe cone weeping.

Thanks. If i pull it out more it leaks badly. Where it is currently only weeps very slightly and not enough to drip. I didn't want to remove again for fear of creating a leak somewhere else as that's what has happened so far. I need it to last a year or so as I want to renovate anyway.

    Flush pipe cone weeping.

Yes the pipe is a tight fit to the cone and the cone is a fairly tight fit to the pan. It is only a slight weep. Could i put plumbers mait around it with it still connected or will that not work? Many thanks.

    Flush pipe cone weeping.

Hi all, I have been having a nightmare with a leaking toilet. Searched on here but cannot find my exact issue. Fixed them all except one where the flush pipe goes in to the back of the pan. It's a concealed cistern and was leaking from both ends. Fixed the cistern end and changed to flush cone...

    Re-painting render

Anyone able to advise at all please? Also what roller sleeve would be best. I was thinking a medium as it's fairly smooth? Many thanks

    Re-painting render

Hi All, Just looking for a bit of advise. I want to repaint the exterior render on my house while the scaffold is up for new soffits and facias. Generally the current paint isn't in bad condition, but it has started to flake in places. Mainly on the black areas. The previous owners left behind...

    Garage floor levelling

Thanks woody but would that stand up to using things like trolley jacks etc? Ive read that self levelling was no good for that, which is why I was thinking the grinding route.

    Garage floor levelling

Thanks. I was concerned about grinding too far and making things worse. I was looking at hiring a dust extractor too to keep the dust down a bit. I don't mind hiring one if that would give the best outcome for repainting. It's a detached garage so not too worried about the dust, I'd just need to...

    Garage floor levelling

Hi all. Hopefully someone can help. I'm wanting to flatten my concrete garage floor a little so i can paint it. I need it fairly good as at the moment a trolley jack gets stuck on the lumps. It looks like someone in the past have mixed cement up on the floor as it's mainly at the front, probably...

    Garage floor painting / damp

Thanks, yes that seems to be the way to go. I have found a couple of places that seem to do an epoxy floor coating and liquid DPM in one. Not cheap, but ideally I only want to do it once. Found these: https://www.permagard.co.uk/liquid-epoxy-damp-proof-membrane-5-litres...

    Garage floor painting / damp

Thanks for your help, All I really want to do is paint the floor to keep down the dust and make it a nice area to work on a classic car which will also be stored in there. So I'd like to try to have as dry an area as possible without having to rebuild the garage. :) What i don't want to do is...

    Garage floor painting / damp

Thanks for the advise, it is a Lidl moisture meter, but seems fairly good, I bought it mainly to test wood for the log burner. I've only been here 8 months, but none of the neighbours have had any work down that would confirm if there was a DPM or not. Is there a liquid DPM that I can put down...

Damp on garage wall / floor

Thanks guys for the help, update on progress. Neighbours were very helpful and didn't have an issue with me cutting the concrete back, so this is what it looks like now. Need to dig a bit deeper so it's two bricks below DPC and a bit of repointing. Next step is to line with a geotextile fabric...

    Garage floor painting / damp

Hi Guys, Just trying to get my detached garage a bit nicer as a bit of a workshop. I want to either paint the floor or use floor tiles, so have been trying to establish if I have a DPM in the garage floor or not. The garage is single skin with concrete floor and was built in around 1983. When...

Damp on garage wall / floor

I have a couple of old saws so good tip thanks. I have some DPM already from doing a shed base so will try that first. I'm hoping as it's such a small area and the concrete does have a fall that it may work. The main area where the damp was getting in I have dug down and will dig down a bit...

Damp on garage wall / floor

Thanks. Yes I agree. they shouldn't have really done it, but I guess the issue is their garden is a bit higher than ours anyway so was probably always like it. They have got pea shingle down on their side in a trench next to the garage, so it would only be the bit where the fence is that is...

Damp on garage wall / floor

It's a raised part whic forms their patio on the otherside of the fence. I do get on with the neighbours but have only lived here since January so don't want to rock the boat. The fence is my neighbours and their garage joins ours on the otherside of the fence. I'm wondering could i put a piece...

Damp on garage wall / floor

Ok so u have dug out a bit next to the back of the garage where the earth was up to DPC level. But don't know what to do about this bit of concrete below the neighbours fence which is above dpc. Anyone any suggestions? Cheers. Ads

Damp on garage wall / floor

Thanks. I would prefer to try and stop it getting in but i don't see a way of doing that without digging the floor up and putting a DPM in and up in to the brick join. Just wondering if there is a easier way that is less involved.

Damp on garage wall / floor

Thanks for the tip. I was going to have a unit there to house my car cleaning stuff. Looks like it will have to be off the floor. Is there anything i can use to seal below the dpc to the floor to stop any damp coming in under the dpc or is it a lost cause?

Damp on garage wall / floor

Thanks for your reply. The picture of the wet patch is at the back of the garage where on the outside the flowerbed is up to dpc level. I'm going to drop this down to try a relieve this. Gutter is all working as it should and is clear. The damp at the front is nowhere near as bad as that. The...
