No hot water. Is this just a 3 way valve problem?

Hello again and thank you Armo74. I have checked the F+E tanks and they do both contain water. Can I take it from Armo74's response that the problems are likely to be with the 3 way valve? And that the valve may not need to be replaced? I should add that neither of us feel confident to do...

No hot water. Is this just a 3 way valve problem?

Thanks plumbplumb. OOPs- I may not have described the system properly. The heating is pumped and the system has header tank(s). Unfortunately I have posted whilst our daughter is asleep and the HW system is in her room so I can't check that at the moment.

No hot water. Is this just a 3 way valve problem?

Hello there. We have a problem in that we have no hot water, although the heating is fine. We have an gravity fed system, an old but functioning Glow worm 45-60 boiler and a summer/winter switch that switches the radiators on and off. For a good six months the switch has not been working...

Where to run the wiring for a room thermostat

Interesting demonstration! It's an oldish non-combi boiler. I reckon I'll prob go for wireless stat - make life easier- as long as they're not too expensive Thanks for your help

Where to run the wiring for a room thermostat

Thanks - The boiler and programmer are in the kitchen and I want to put a thermostat in the room next door, so I don't think I need a programmable thermostat (but I'm not sure exactly what one is). I have heard of wireless stats but thought they were much more expensive.

Where to run the wiring for a room thermostat

Is it ok to run the wiring for a room thermostat behind the freestanding cooker (hob and oven) in my kitchen? I'm thinking of running the wiring behind my worktop / cabinets before I fill in the small gap by the worktop with tiles. Is the cooker likely to cause a problem? Thanks for your...

    Kitchen Plinth Fan Convector Heater

Sorry about that Simon The stairwell is narrow - 700mm wide - going straight up a flight in a small terrace, so it's only a small space. It gets v cold as it's next to the passageway and over the cellarhead. My main concern was that it'll use loads of energy to heat this area, but I might...

    Kitchen Plinth Fan Convector Heater

I am thinking of installing one of these in the kick of my stairs in my very cold stairwell. The outside walls can get very damp but here is no room for a radiator if you want to get anything up or down the stairs. The space behind the stairs (in the cellarhead) has flow and return pipes for...

Please help - my boiler's been condemned!

Thanks for your advice. The flue problem has been totally fixed by a CORGI guy (drilling out the rivets and rejoining with self-tapping screws). Turns out that the flue cage was far too small and not fixed to wall properly so it's been pulling down on the balanced flue. I know several of you...

Please help - my boiler's been condemned!

Thanks for your advice. The Potterton is a balanced and not open flue - I dont know all the implications of that altho I do understand that faulty flues and CO are v dangerous. I trust the guy who's looking at it now and suspect that my original plumber couldn't face working on a floor level...

Please help - my boiler's been condemned!

I have a floor standing Potterton Kingfisher II of advanced age but that rarely caused any problems. Had a landlords safety check today cos thinking of renting out house, and boiler has been condemned cos "balanced flue is detached from primary air duct/flue" ( the flue cage has been loose for a...
