    Stairlift wiring to socket

I have attached another photo of the whole area where the consumer unit is just to clarify what you said. Did you mean the the wiring in the house could be dangerous? The house is owned by a housing association and if this is dangerous, I will be contacting them tomorrow. I appreciate your...

    Stairlift wiring to socket

I have wiring in my home for a stairlift which I don't need. It says on the cover "future stairlift". The house was completely gutted out to the bare brick about 10 years ago and rewired. I have attached 2 photos. Can I change this to a single socket?

    Replacing Bathroom Light

I just want to check that what I have done is OK. I have just replaced the bathroom light in my sisters house. The original light was just a standard ceiling rose with 2 core flex coming from it. The new light is a metal light which is for the proper zone in the bathroom. I disconnected all of...

    Adding new lights and switch

I have been doing some work in my sisters house and she has decided that she wants to add a few lights underneath a panel on her landing. I have provided a diagram which I hope gives enough information. The wall and underneath the ledge are both hollow. She wants to remove the wooden ledge and...

    Ceiling light

Adam, I have also just fitted a new ceiling light and done exactly what you have said. Its what I thought in the first place but out of curiosity could you explain to me why the black wire with red sleeving is connected to the live terminal of the light. Am I right in thinking that this...

    Plug get hot

I checked the plug of the extension lead. That was also hot (and part of the wire coming from the plug). It had a moulded plug on it. I cut it off along with 8" of the wire, put a new plug on and it seems to have sorted the problem. Thanks to big_all and Ban All Sheds for your help.

    Plug get hot

I am using an oil filled radiator. After it has been on for a while the plug feels warm. If I remove the plug and feel the pins, they are very hot. I have checked the wiring in the plug and it is OK. There is a 13amp fuse in the plug. Any ideas on what the problem is?

    Are car parts original?

Thanks everyone. The matter has been resolved. I was trying to say that I left my car in for repairs and when I got it back I got the feeling that a part on my car was swapped with the same part on a similar car. In other words I had a good part on my car and the other car had a faulty part but...

    Are car parts original?

Is there any way to tell if a car part is the original part for that particular car? Is there a way of checking the serial number of the part and matching it to the VIN or chassis numbers?

    Static Shock

I can see what you mean TexMex. It's a lot of fun for me too when I'm watching the poor unfortunate individual who is on the receiving end it but its me .

    Static Shock

A tip for when you are all getting out of the car. A friend told me to hold on to the top of the door as I get out and don't let go until you are standing with your two feet on the ground. It worked for me.
