    Internal stone walls

Hi all, I am hoping to get some advice. I have a Victorian property where all the walls (internal and external) are solid stone with thick horsehair plaster/ lime and multiple layers of wall paper. Some of the external walls are quite damp as the previous occupants never did any work to the...

Wall panels - above 1800x800 bath - ground floor

I haven't used this panelling before, haven't done much tiing either. Shower panels look like the way forward if I can get some for above the bath. Does anyone supply custom panels? (probably not laminate). Thick enough to be rigid. For walls above long side and each end. Approx.160cm tall...

Blocking up ground floor internal doorway - does it need dpc? etc

Single leaf breeze (not supporting). I dug a 100sq test hole in the ctr and found conc. below the screed so I figure using conc. blocks will be ok. Do internal walls require a dpc? I'm assuming it would be good practice to dig out a channel in the screed and block up off the concrete below...

Cracked leaning internal walls into cavity?

Can anyone help me with this problem? I have 2 bedrooms that have a large vertical crack at the point where their joining wall meets the inner leaf exterior wall (circled in red). The walls are not plumb and it appears that the inner leaf wall is leaning into the cavity and pulling away from...

Ventilation for Internal Bathroom in Flat

I'm viewing some flats just now (built 1970) and am looking for some guidance re ventilating the bathroom in the flat I’m really keen on buying (Flat A). Sorry if this is a bit long-winded, but it’s the only way that I can describe the situation. I just need to know what my options are before I...

Front door removed: what type of blocks do I use to tie in.

48" front door removed, that wall is now internal. The outer leaf was conc. and the inner leaf is breeze. As I need a conventional internal door there now, does it make much difference if I narrow the doorway using Celcons, or should I stick to conc. Thanks, Dain

internal bifold door span, joist/beam suggestions please

I'd like to put in a room divider to split a large room, and have bought some internal oak bi-folding doors. At the moment, I haven't built a frame for them to sit into. I've got a width of 3.8m (masonry walls both sides) and ceiling height of 3.3m. I was thinking (dangerous I know) of using...

Toilet Blocked / Draining Very Slowly

Hi, Our downstairs toilet in a modern extension (built approx. 10 years ago) is blocked / draining very slowly. I know of no drainage plans and believe it's classed as private pipework unfortunately. So far I have tried: - Wire coat hanger pushed round the bend - Buckets of hot water with...

Will wood primer cause surface delamination in ply pipe boxing?

5.5mm and 9mm hardwood ply services boxing in a kitchen. Will wood primer cause delamination? I'd like to end up with the same paint on the box and adjacent walls, not too worried about cracking between varying substrates as there's already breeze and stud walls so plenty of corner cracking...
