Hi all,

Car noob here I'm afraid...
Just bought an 06 Focus 1.8 diesel and I've noticed when I turn the ignition off, the engine carries on going for about a second, during which the engine car shakes a bit... is this normal for diesels?!

cheers,
MGB

possibly not  ......could be the fuel solenoid...and might be expensive  get some opinions from diesel specialists...might be easier just to leave it ;)...........2006 :?:  didn`t read that. thought it was an old banger

Is the car not still under the manufacturers warranty?

I'm not sure how much warranty Ford give these days but I know Vauxhall offer a 12 month/100,000 mile warranty + an additional 2 year/60,000 mile extended warranty on new vehicles.

Thanks for the replies - it is still under warranty thankfully :)
Anyway took it to Ford garage over the weekend, they said nothing was wrong. Talking to a few other people it looks like its a 'quirk' of Ford diesel engines

It doesn't sound right, I'd get a 2nd opinion from another Ford Main Dealer.

Like the Mk. 11 Cortina Silver Fox paint    ...just ask an old fart/ford owner ;)

Had a petrol Escort for work years ago - If you had all the electrics switched on, as often happens in winter, you could take the key out and walk off, and the engine would still be running. The engine would only stop if you turned off either the heater blower or the wipers before the ignition
