have put in a 10mm wire for a shower, but whats the max amperage breaker for that size wire. I ve been told i need 40 amps but can i get away with 30 amps.???

smaller breakers are fine, bigger ones are not...

it depends on the power rating of the shower.. no point putting it on a 32A breaker if it needs 40A now is there?

10mm cable can take between 44A and 64A depending on the installation method..

this may be further reduced if it runs through any kind of insulation such as in the loft or walls..

Do you not think that you should have taken the trouble to learn basic stuff like this before you started installing new circuits?

I wonder what else you didn't know that you should have....
