15mm pushfit to 15mm male thread

Hi,

I am after a fitting to take 15mm copper pipe and convert to a 15mm male thread. My tap connectors are 15mm female.

I wanted pushfit as I have had no end of problems with compression. I realise a 15mm straight compression coupling would do the job but wanted copper pushfit preferably.

I've looked on screwfix and the nearest they have got is 15mm pushfit to 1/2 male, which I know is close - would it work?

The secret of compressionfits:
Clean pipe with fine steelwool until shiny
Slide nut on
Slide new olive on
Turn nut hand tight
Give it half a turn, as in 180 degrees
If still weeping, turn another 90 degrees.
Do NOT pack with teflon

Hi,

No my tap is a monoblock mixer and has flexible tails that end in 15mm female connectors. I therefore need a 15mm male thread to connect to it. I wanted copper pushfit as have had problems with compression. The pipework will be inaccessible.

The thread you refer to is known as ½" (half inch) female, not 15mm. You therefore want something with a ½" male thread.

Its definately 15mm female, not 1/2". It says 15mm in the tap instructions and a 15mm straight coupling (without the compression nut) screws perfectly in to it.

I think I am going to get a complete replacement pair of tails, M10 to 15mm pushfit made by JG speedfit out of screwfix.

15mm compression threads are exactly the same as ½" male threads. That is what we have been trying to tell you. Do you not think we might know a thing or two after decades of plumbing work?

And its taken until 8 replies later that I get this answer:

15mm compression threads are exactly the same as ½" male threads. That is what we have been trying to tell you. Do you not think we might know a thing or two after decades of plumbing work?

If you can show me where anyone made it clear that I could use 1/2" male thread fittings without problems then I apologise. Having said that, thankyou for eventually getting me an answer.

yes but you didn't explain that they were the same.

Look at it from my point of view. I have an instruction sheet for my new taps that say categorically "your tap is supplied with M10 to 15mm female threaded flexible braided connectors".

You are saying (vaguely) that I need 1/2" but not explaining why. For all I know you could be mistaking what I have for the standard 1/2" tap connector that is usually found.

Now that you have categorically told me that 15mm and 1/2" threads are exactly the same I have my answer, so again thank you. No offence intended but i needed to be sure I was getting the right thing.
